So, the end of the institution of American Policing, does not mean the end of "policing" as in the enforcement of laws and rules. Rather, it requires us to imagine the kind of institution necessary to ensure equitable enforcement of laws, rules, and community agreements in the service of justice.

Imagine if newspapers instead wrote something like, "According to police, the suspect tried to hit the officers with his car. In 35 out of 37 statements issued by this department over the past 5 years, police gave false initial statements, later contradicted by their own bodycam footage."
