Bill Belichick should coach a high school team next. His ability to connect with the younger generation would give him a huge edge

Per sources: Bill Belichick has discussed buyout options with North Carolina’s hierarchy. Belichick has signaled a willingness to trigger his own $1 million buyout if he can find a soft landing with another team or in media

When I follow you I am saying that if you started a religious cult with you as the primary object of worship I would join it
joshuajfriedman.com
The "follow" dichotomy I always struggle with is "I want to see every single thing you post" vs. "I want you to know that I like and respect you." My Following feed is so overstuffed as it is, but I hate the idea that people I don't follow back might think that I don't appreciate them!
rose.bsky.team
The "follow" button confounds "I'm looking at your content" and "I endorse this content." We need two different ways to signal the difference between the two.

Just realized I have not had a single drop of water today. Only coffee. I don't feel drier or anything, but maybe that's because my brain is slowly shutting down

Bridging my current life in Chicago and my past life in D.C., I argue today at @newrepublic.com that Democrats should ~never~ vote to fund this government. Make John Thune blow up Senate rules and Republicans wholly own the U.S. extra-military military doing war crimes against us, funded by us.
The Case for the Forever Shutdown
Senate Democrats actually allowing the GOP to stop funding the government is only the first step. Now they have to make the case that Trump’s government is illegitimate.

A chart showing the homicides over time in Chicago. The orange line, representing 2025, is way below the gray lines representing the past 10 years.

Logan Square neighborhood, Chicago. Man wearing a balaclava in a white, unmarked vehicle, pulls the pin on a tear gas canister and tosses it in the road.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov owns every arrest and act of violence against protesters this morning. He is aiding and abetting Operation Midway Blitz by allowing state cops to do this. He tells us to film ICE. His cops have shoved me around for filming this morning.

Six Democratic senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee (Durbin, Schiff, Whitehouse, Klobuchar, Coons, and Welch) voted yes on two Trump district court nominees this morning, and my question remains, why do senior members of this party keep voluntarily ceding political capital to Donald Trump
Why Is This Democratic Senator Voting to Confirm a Trump Judicial Nominee?
If you really think Trump poses an existential threat to democracy, the bar for affirmatively supporting one of his nominees has to be higher than “I don’t know, he seems fine.”

BREAKING: Supreme Court will allow Lisa Cook to remain on federal reserve board for now, ruling that the government’s application for a stay is deferred pending oral argument in January 2026
wallace.bsky.social
My initial thought is always "they'll have to follow speed limits and stop at stop signs, immediately a huge safety upgrade," and then my follow-up thought is "will they actually have to do that? or will users be able to override those defaults and tell their cars to speed?"

Say what you will about John Roberts, but he knows how to write a powerful decision when the stakes are high. The reasoning on display here is impressive--compelling, yet beautifully written. I'm in awe.
