This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

David is slightly unfair. There is a clear difference here.

Conservatives and Reform plan to forcibly expel large numbers of people who are legal, permanent residents of migrant origin. The BNP proposal is voluntary.

This below is from the 2005 BNP manifesto.

Spot the difference with current Tory and Reform policy.

Point one here is a disturbing example of the #ELIZAEffect

Dangerous if this becomes common in #academia and #HigherEducation

Those in the #SocialSciences need to do better in terms of challenging the #AIPropganda being pushed by predatory #TechBarons so this delusion does not impact our students
oxinabox.bsky.social
We need "you are not immune to propaganda" but for AI use risks

We have seen too many cases of
1. Highly educated folk starting to believe LLMs are sentient.
2. Folk with no prior mental health issues becoming delusional.
3. Prrofessionals becoming reliant on it to do things they could do better.

The safety of minority groups is never ever achieved by giving police greater powers.
senthorun.bsky.social
“Police forces will be granted powers to put conditions on repeat protests…”

It’s scary that the British government is making it harder for people to protest. You can’t end one form of racism by encouraging another. The safety of minoritised groups will not be achieved by giving police more powers.
Police to get broader powers to crack down on repeated protests
Officers will be able to tell organisers to move demonstrations if protests have caused

Currently at:
— only buy tech too old to have AI built in
— painstakingly disable AI every time they add it to something that used to work perfectly well
— if it can't be switched off, abandon the platform or tool
— if there are no good alternatives, avoid the AI parts
— patiently wait for the crash

Bring in real protections for #artists and #authors to either stop their work and #IntellectualProperty being pirated and used by #LLMs/#TechBarons or avenues for seeking real financial recourse for thefts that occur.

I spoke on BBC Breakfast this morning about the Panorama Documentary showing abusive police at Charing Cross station.

We've heard the same things for decades, the commissioner apologises and promises change but then nothing happens and public pressure dies down.

Newspaper article from UK Times, 4 April, 1974

‘Universities “Exploiting Students as Cheap Staff”’

from Tim Devlin, Education Correspondent, Liverpool, April 3

Postgraduate students, it was alleged here today, are being exploited as cheap labour by the universities and their ‘appalling’ rates of pay are being used to keep down the wages of other staff, particularly laboratory technicians

The endgame of the #ToxicManagerialism we have seen plaguing #HigherEducation in the last decade or so.

The sector has been cursed with a leadership that seems not to understand the basics nor benefits of #HigherLearning; focusing instead on a reductive pursuit of a false exchange value!

A lot of psych is already conducted with online convenience samples & ppl are probably excited about silicon samples bc it would allow them to crank out more studies for even less 💸

How about we reconsider the idea that sciencey science involves collecting own data.

There are two overlapping forms of #Racism occurring in this account which plagues so many racialised people in #CriminalJustice settings:
1. The construction of #CJS institutions as white spaces (see E Anderson).
2. The old imposed colonial myths of Black criminality (see P Gilroy)

Once more, I reiterate:

The #police do not serve the public, this is a conceit of modern #politics. The fact is that the police serve the state by policing the public. It has ever been thus.

What has Yvette Cooper’s proscription of Palestine Action done to this country?

Beyond absurd. It’s extreme authoritarianism. These police should be arresting rapists & crooks, not neglecting those duties to spend time arresting citizens standing against genocide.

It undermines police and the law.
