Researchers have found that birds are abandoning their usual migration patterns, with warmer temperatures in their winter habitats disrupting their annual flights. This change could lead to many bird species dying out and drastically altering nature.

As for this - in other words the government would rather we offshore our operations instead of generating jobs and exports in a high productivity sector in the UK. I despair...

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

England's hotel protesters say we should house the homeless rather than migrants. So where were these protesters when, in 2020, the pandemic protection ended for homeless people and they were chucked out of hotels and back on the streets?

Exactly.

At Climate Week NYC, the message was clear: progress is underway. While none of us can do this alone, the number of people who are committed to tackling climate together is growing every day.

A huge achievement but still a long way to go:

As @mumsforlungs.bsky.social highlight, although London has now lowered nitrogen dioxide pollution levels to UK legal limits, these limits are still 4 times higher than WHO recommendations to protect people's health.

A DEFRA report suggests London is now finally compliant with UK legal #AirPollution limits for nitrogen dioxide (NO2).

DEFRA reports that last year, London complied with the UK’s annual average legal limit of 40ug/m3 for NO2, 15 years after it should have.

No country in the history of the world has ever prospered by deliberately lowering the educational attainment of its citizenry.

No other country in the world today (not even Trumpist America) is proposing to do so.

Suggesting the UK should do it, systematically, is a marker of deranged idiocy.

Apart from the unnecessary hardship this will inflict on individuals, this will be bad for integration and social cohesion, bad for the economy, and will increase irregular migration.

[And, as @robfordmancs.bsky.social has shown, it's hugely unpopular and out of step with the British public]

🚨 Time's running out to tell gov you want bottom trawling OUT of protected waters. We need a wave of ocean warriors to take a stand & take action. Otherwise, gov will only hear the deafening calls of Big Industry, angling for a quick profit at the expense of our seas.

Pay now to prevent a problem or pay more later to mitigate it.

I can hazard a guess which option our privatised water companies would prefer.

The government needs to get a grip. (On a lot of things)

Desalination and water recycling are measures to fix a water crisis. They're expensive +, before we turn to these, we should be taking much more cost effective steps to prevent that crisis happening in the first place.
