My life can be strange and wonderful sometimes. I'm currently chatting with one of my favourite authors ever... about why option two of this meme is clearly the correct choice.

This Sunday, @charsiewspace.bsky.social and I'll be speaking at @britfantasysoc.bsky.social's Imaginarium II. Our panel is Opportunities in Speculative Fiction, at 2:30pm (GMT). It's ten quid to attend, so we hope you'll join us! britishfantasysociety.org/events-calen...

The two pages in the quoted post are slightly "cleverer" with layout, but I can deliver a straightforward, solid page too.

I've also co-created an award-winning prose/comics hybrid called WORK-LIFE BALANCE. Folks like @alexdecampi.bsky.social and Paul Levitz have said very lovely things about it.

Sadly, I wasn't a Mad Cave Talent Search 2025 winner. (There's always next year!) In the meantime, if there are any comic editors out there looking for writers, I have two published stories that I'll be happy to share with you.

This weekend—spent with new and old friends, and moderating easily the most unhinged, but also one of the most heartfelt panels I've ever been a part of at the Singapore Writers Festival—was just what I needed. I'll write more about it soon.

While it's not technically within an AVENGERS title, this page from SIEGE taught me more about writing action in comics than most action sequences. So, even though his DAREDEVIL run with Alex Maleev remains my favourite Marvel work of his, it's honestly kinda nice to see him returning to AVENGERS.

That's Singapore's Minister of Foreign affairs right there.

My cat is perfect for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that he clearly appreciates the fun of mid- to late-nineties superhero comics.

My first Spider-Man comic! What's yours? #SpiderMan 🕷

I cannot remember what the cover looked like—I was only about four, I think—but it was a European hardcover reprint of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN comics. I very clearly remember that it featured this pin-up though.

Took this photo yesterday and, honestly, learning how to properly style my hair has been the biggest boost to my self-esteem in recent years.

The story's about how time feels different when you're a caregiver—how hours can feel like days, days can feel like weeks. We showed this by playing with panel sizes and layouts. You don't really get a sense of that from this page—but you do get a sense of how amazing @eyesongoh.bsky.social is.

I've just received my comp copies of HOW ARE YOU FEELING? and, in it, I finally corrected a mistake I made when WORLDS APART was first published: I asked for Jannah and I to be collectively credited as "Created by" instead of separate writing and illustration credits.

Wish me luck.

In a little over twelve hours, I'll be speaking on a panel about how different screenwriters work with directors, in which I'll say many, many nice things about Kyle. Join us if you can! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

I wore my TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS t-shirt for both my Worldcon sessions. I'll wear it for the HOW ARE YOU FEELING? launch. I'll keep wearing it for events and I dare anyone to try and debate me in person (because I'll just point to the t-shirt—since this is not fucking up for debate).

Post a comic you love - a top-5er for you.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #400 by J.M. DeMatteis and Mark Bagley.

Just a beautiful, heartbreaking story. It was a touching (albeit temporary) send-off for Aunt May, and in just one wordless page, DeMatteis and Bagley made Ben Reilly my guy.

Get HOW ARE YOU FEELING? now!

The anthology reprints WORLDS APART: A CONVERSATION ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH by Nurjannah Suhaimi and myself.

There's currently no release date for international bookstores, but our publisher does ship globally. differenceengine.sg/comics/how-a...

if you see this, post a bad woman you love

(Specifically her character from the video for "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings")

Aww, man. Now I wish my friend was still organising the con, so that I could score an invite for the creators' dinner. It's how I ended up chatting with Glenn Fabry once (and comparing David Bowie impersonations).

Feeling cute. Definitely not gonna delete later (though I am getting a shave and a haircut on Monday morning).

I remain proud that I chose the alien head, mostly because the "ears" could extend outwards.
