Get HOW ARE YOU FEELING? now!

The anthology reprints WORLDS APART: A CONVERSATION ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH by Nurjannah Suhaimi and myself.

There's currently no release date for international bookstores, but our publisher does ship globally. differenceengine.sg/comics/how-a...
This is the cover for the comic, HOW ARE YOU FEELING?. A cyan speech balloon with the word HOW in yellow it at the top left, with a square panel with a young woman's left eye to the right of it done in one art style. Below the word balloon is a horizontally rectangular panel with the right side of an older woman's face done in a second art style. She is smiling. To the right of this horizontally rectangular panel is a yellow word balloon with the word ARE in it in cyan. Below the horizontally rectangular panel is a yellow word balloon with the word YOU in it in cyan. To the right of this word balloon are two panels. The first is a square panel with another the right eye of another young woman in it. This is done in a third art style. The second panel is a vertically rectangular one. In it is the same young woman, but this panel shows the left side of her face. She is smiling. At the bottom left of the cover is a vertically rectangular panel with the right side of the face of the woman from the panel at the top of the page. She is smiling and you can see that she has a mole just below her lip. To the right of this panel is a horizontally rectangular panel and, below that, a cyan word balloon. In the horizontally rectangular panel is the smiling mouth of the older woman from before. In the word balloon is the word FEELING? in yellow. Below the word balloon is the sub-headline that reads, "A Comics Anthology". This is in white. The background of the cover is light purple. All artwork is done in darker purple ink and shades. A young woman's face is broken up into nine panels. She's got dark hair that comes down just past her shoulders. She's wearing a simple necklace, a plain top, and an unbuttoned shirt over it. In the first panel, we also see a disapproving elderly man and woman. In the sixth panel, we see the man again; in the eighth, we see the elderly woman. The young woman's speech bubbles are in panels one, three, seven and nine. Those speech bubbles contain the following text:

Panel 1: I guess everyone's got different reasons.

Panel 3: Some people don't think mental health is a "real thing".

Panel 7: Some people are ashamed to talk about it.

Panel 9: But not talking about it doesn't mean it's not there... Synopsis for HOW ARE YOU FEELING?:

A girl navigates her first period while a woman anticipates her last. A mother loses her baby before she can hold him. A friend opens up about her struggles with mental health.

The How Are You Feeling? anthology collects the first three issues of Difference Engine’s DE Shorts imprint: A Drip. A Drop. A Deluge: A Period Tragicomedy, Bearing Witness, and Worlds Apart: A Conversation about Mental Health. From humorous anecdotes drawn from difficult conversations, contrasting encounters and shared conundrums, to deeply personal experiences, this trilogy of comics seeks to open up dialogue about relatable issues that remain difficult to talk about.

Our cat, Luca, has kidney failure. We received the diagnosis two weeks ago, when we brought him to the vet for what we thought was just his arthritis acting up. Right now, he doesn’t seem to be in any pain. He still plays with Nadia’s hair tie like an apex predator. He still climbs up to the top of our wardrobe to chill out or keep an eye on us while we sleep.

LONG STORY SHORT was so good. I think I like it a little more than BOJACK HORSEMAN, just because it feels like a more intimate, more personal story.

I'll probably post on Instagram for the next couple of days, since we have the HOW ARE YOU FEELING? launch event this Saturday, but after that, I'll be off that too.

I'm staying off Bluesky for a while for my mental health. I don't know for how long. Maybe a month? I write new blog posts that'll get cross-posted here, but I think it's best for me to stay away from social media for a stretch (even the one platform where I actually feel welcome).

I want to staple this (in as much as you can staple a video clip lol) onto the foreheads of writers and editors who have limited experience making comics.

My cat is perfect for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that he clearly appreciates the fun of mid- to late-nineties superhero comics.
A photo of my grey cat, Luca, sitting in front of two racks of single-issue comics and a reading lamp. Above the racks are framed three framed newspaper articles. To the left of those articles is a framed BLUE MONDAY and SCOOTER GIRL print by Chynna Clugston-Flores. On the floor below that print is a framed piece of original Spider-Man art by David Mack.

For the rest of your life, you can only eat food from one of these regions. Which do you choose?

Absolutely. (I'm already planning on chronicling my wins in big ol' letters, with a bright red marker.)

Just saw a story about how Jamie Lee Curtis cried when she heard about the white supremacist's death even though she 'didn't agree' with him, & remembered when she posted a picture of terrified Palestinian children thinking they were Israeli, and then quietly deleted without apology when told.

We launched the OpenAl Korea office yesterday!

Fav moment from the launch celebration was hearing singer/songwriter Vince share that ChatGPT helped him write
"Soda Pop" from KPop Demon Hunters!
It apparently gave him ideas to make it sound "more bubbly"

I read someplace that when INDECENT PROPOSAL came out a TV reporter, outraged at the concept, did some vox pops outside the theater, asking a woman "Would you sleep with Robert Redford for a million dollars?!" Only the woman without hesitation replied "I'd sleep with Robert Redford for fifty cents."
