To be honest, science has it's own issues, such as cherry picking or p-hacking, without the motivation of subjectivity. Even attempts to be "objective" can draw the wrong conclusions.

I get what you're saying, but they already trained their models on your data regardless. Disabling smart features is just opting out of what's already done. If you want to try something to combat it, you have to stop using Gmail. I still use it but debate on moving away from it.
