We made it. It's been a long year for my mum and I, as readers of my carer's journals will know. But Christmas is here and we're ready for it.

Christmas themed stickers on a plain white wall. In the centre is a huge Christmas tree, made up of 4 large stickers lined up one above the other. The tree is heavily and colourfully decorated with baubles, bells, snowflakes and striped candy canes. There is a star on the top, and a large array of presents in colourful wrapping at the base. Around the edge of the tree are lots of smaller sticks, including snowflakes, holly, bells, birds and baubles. Either side of the base of the tree are a couple of dogs, one with antlers on its head as it nibbles on a round lollipop, the other wearing a Santa hat and looking very happy as it sits up to look out of a red box with candy canes and a wrapped gift next to it. 3 rows of Christmas bunting strung up on a wall. The top and bottom rows consist of various Christmas-related imagery, including Santa Claus and snowmen in various poses, stockings, bells and trees. The middle row consists of colourfully designed capital letters spelling Merry Christmas. 2 rows of bunting strung up on the wall. The top row has a variety of Christmas imagery including Santa, snowmen, presents, trees, reindeer and a snow-covered house. The bottom row consists of Santa in his sleigh being pulled along by 8 reindeer, which are spread along the ribbon so it looks like they're flying down towards the centre and then swooping up as they move across the wall. In between the two rows of bunting is a line of string on which 5 Christmas cards are hung on display. A window covered in a festive selection of white stickers. At the centre is a large tree made up of a few stickers lined up with each other. It has lights and decorations on it, and presents across the base. Around it are lots of smaller stickers, mainly of varying designs of snowflakes, baubles and stars, along with the text Merry Christmas at the top left of the window and Happy New Year in the bottom right.

It also doesn’t work. Suspending MPs over the two child limit didn’t stop them rebelling over disability benefits. Loads more followed! The way to ease rebellion is by communicating with backbenchers, not punishing them like errant children. Starmer really is both immoral and inept.

Suspending MPs is an important way to keep discipline but it has to be used very sparingly and in the right circumstances. Removing the Labour name from an MP because they didn’t want to impoverish children or disabled people is a truly ludicrous - and telling - method of running the party.

Another petty counterproductive move from Starmer. Punishing MPs who stood against a widely unpopular policy won’t endear him to the public or improve discipline in the party. It just makes him look like he hasn’t learnt a thing - morally or practically - from the disability cuts. Because he hasn’t.
