hey, i'm wendi yu, a travesti monster from Northeast Brasil who makes trouble with words and images. sometimes they even give me awards for it!
i'm a phd student and a screenwriter and i've also worked as a writer, sensitivity reader, artist and designer for games.

One thing I'll say about DC not only canceling Red Hood, but recalling the first issue and refunding stores for buying it, is that you can still get Neil Gaiman's work through them. They still work with Otto Schmidt. Eddie Berganza worked there for years AFTER the formation of a policy that no women

2) sad boners/sex are rich and complex, and pretty common, affective experiences which can be used to explore a wide variety of things in art. I'm working on something that basically uses sad sex as musicals use songs, for example. it'd also be classified as horror or weird fiction.

awoke from troubled dreams to see smart gringo writers saying dumb stuff about genres as usual so:
1) the lit/genre fiction split makes zero sense from outside the anglosphere and if you understand how genres/cultural categories work. don't take contextual relations as universal ontological facts.

my family changed how we pronounce our surname since it has a sound that doesn't exist in Brazil (the way they say it, it sounds more like a ü or a French u than "you"), even i can't say it right

and still people get it wrong all the time lmao

i love being campy and calling them something thematically appropriate for the game. in my game about mutant musicians, they're the roadie. in my antifascist monsters game, they're the organizer (which I'm very proud of as a wordplay)
