Shutdown, day 8: my agency just emailed us a sample letter we can send to creditors, telling them that we can’t pay our bills because we’re not getting paid.

Sometimes (like tonight) I cannot sleep thinking about all of the immigrants who over the years told me we were headed to the place our country currently finds itself, and how little people seemed to care because it was immigrants saying it.

That’s because they’re bemused

She absolutely ran on that platform. That’s why she was elected. Anyway, agree or disagree, she’s not running again.

PS I recommend checking out the book Copaganda, which was the topic of this event. It’s available at @hclib.bsky.social, though there’s a waiting list.

DFLers hate to hear this but one of the biggest impediments to progress is the Democratic Party and its true believers.

Example: we *elected* Mary Moriarty to be a progressive county attorney—and she had barely started fulfilling campaign promises when bigwigs in the DFL tried to shut her down.

PSA- you don’t tell your friends “where Anne Frank is hiding.” You never know who will give up info to save themselves, their family, their job; to make the torture stop; or just bc they have a moment of bad judgement.

It’s depressing to realize people I used to consider friends have become people whom I would not tell where
Anne Frank was hiding.

Not mine

lol I remember first running across this word as a kid and being like: WTF? It doesn’t mean anything CLOSE to what I thought it would mean, just as an isolated word. These pies are TOOTHSOME? Are you *kidding* me?

Now THIS. This guy seems like he fits the bill, meets the moment.

Pretty much. Begins at about 17:44, w/the moderator asking how the candidates will involve Ward 9’s diverse communities—in particular the indigenous community—in their decisionmaking.

Jason’s at ease talking about the urban farm that the mayor has dissed. Orban is flustered, as he was throughout.

C *and* A and also E: cumbersome.

Another vote for Smiley’s here.

The only drawback is that they close at 5pm and aren’t open on weekends.

Oh, wow. My brother never made it to 50, either: he had just turned 49.

So many profoundly terrible, unnecessary losses.

Tall Gerald, medium Gerald, low Gerald 😍
A photo collage of Gerald the cat, a large gray tabby sitting on top of his cat tree. On the left is tall Gerald, sitting up straight and tall. In the middle is medium Gerald, sitting up but hunched over. On the right is low Gerald, on all four feet but low to the ground.

Question at the Ward 9 forum: How will you support the indigenous community?
Dan Orban: I find the Native community to be fun.
Jason Chavez: Land Back!

One more note on that public vending machine stocked with Narcan 24/7

“Gerald is a lovable ball of energy who just wants somebody to match his freak.”

– 100 percent accurate description by @makeherway.bsky.social, who spent quite a bit of time with him while we were out of town for the weekend.

What if…what if there were NARCAN vending machines at LRT stations so people could do something other than trying to conjure some transit cops if they’re so worried

That red dot on the map that the Strib published in 2021 of overdose deaths = the exact spot of both my brother’s house and the MFD site with the new Narcan vending machine that CM @jchavezmpls.bsky.social has championed.
Map of hot spots in Minneapolis where drug overdoses occurred

The Star Tribune reviewed roughly 27 months of Fire Department reports, using keywords such as
"overdose" "OD," "Narcan." and the names of other Zoomed in on the red dot representing the highest concentration of overdoses

all discourse aside, there is one machine with consciousness. it's printers. they are alive and conscious and they hate you and they'd take your arm clean off if you let them. never trust a printer.

*this, not “his” (but it would not have happened without Jason’s advocacy, so the typo is not exactly wrong.)
