It cost around $40 billion to import petrol into Australia and disruptions to supply cost us dearly.

EVs effectively give us energy security, massively reduced cost and improve our environment.

As tech improves, they will get better, more efficient, cheaper and more affordable.

ICE cars are dead.

California, a state of nearly 40,000,000 people, has the same amount of representation in the United States Senate as Wyoming, a state of less than 600,000 people.

This is the direct result of a deal struck between slave states and free states in the 1700s.

It’s time for that to change.

Our secondary school has been saving for 15 years for air con for a small theatre.

At Haileybury to attend a swim meet we note they have a pool, a warmup pool, 12 tennis courts, multiple ovals, magnificent new buildings with state of the art everything.

My taxes help with this inbalance.

Let's be clear: getting rid of experienced, nonpolitical civil servants in vital agencies and replacing them with MAGA loyalists isn't government efficiency — it's political cronyism and a recipe for corruption.

We can and should make the government work better. This isn't how.

Trump alone didn't beat the justice system.

He had help.

It took Oligarchs relentlessly amplifying his lies on their media platforms.

Ethically compromised members of the Supreme Court.

70+ million willing to vote for a convicted felon.

There's a lot to fix. But it can be fixed. It must.

A significant amount of work in this thread. Have read it over and still digesting all the links and information laid out. Worth a second read and a watch of the YT video linked at the end.
1/ 🚨 Conspiracy theories about the 2024 election miss the bigger picture.

The truth? It wasn’t one night, one hack, or one fraud. It was a system rigged in plain sight – right in front of us. The playbook was out in the open for years. But hardly anyone paid attention.

Here’s how they did it... 🧵

Covid is a social justice issue - it always has been. We need to recognize it & start providing:

- Free tests & respirators
- Paid time off
- Clean air in public spaces
- Mandatory masks in healthcare
- Universal healthcare

We all need to become eco-populists. That means championing policies that significantly lower daily costs while lowering emissions. Heat Pumps for All, alongside much more robust tenant rights; free and better public transit; price caps on green energy; make polluters pay for the transition.

Two or more things can be true:

1. Current unequal access to, and/or distribution of resources needed to survive and thrive

2. Biophysical, planetary limits to growth are real

“Abundance” is not the cultural reframing we need in the face of ecological overshoot.

Why not ”Lagom” or “Sufficiency”?
