“Plenary authority” means “absolute unqualified authority.” You won’t find that in our constitution. It’s an attribute of emperors, kings, dictators, “the Fuhrer,” etc. (Perhaps John Roberts can find it in the constitution with his special X-ray glasses.)

It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

The Speaker of the House has firm views that Bad Bunny is a terrible pick for singing at the Super Bowl, but hasn't had time to watch the President's speech to our military leadership or form an opinion whether furloughed federal workers should be paid or Illinois' governor should be thrown in jail.
