We're past "Abolish ICE folks are vindicated" or "the leftists were right". "Abolish ICE" is starting to look mild and cowardly while the consequences of Democrats never taking a stance against anti-immigrant propaganda and continuing to fund these initatives is currently rampaging through houses.

Like are these people just incapable of learning anything? Do they have focus groups and PR teams where their souls should be? Are they brainstorming on which class of desirables should be sacrificed to fascist bloodlust because this time it'll definitely appease them for good?

TEN FUCKING YEARS of "reasonable concerns" and "the science isn't settled" and allowing conservatives to pretend that they're women's rights activists because they speak out against icky trannies and what do we have?

Radicalized billionaires working hand-in-hand with fascists to torpedo society.

Congratu-fucking-lations and I hope you lovely people now get to experience a fraction of the sheer rage, despair, and powerlessness that my people and my sisters were forced to endure as we watched people who should know better enable the most reactionary, eliminationist rhetoric about us.

Yeah yeah peace unity resistance and all that shit but you know what?

I'll savor the moment where so much of wider society gets to experience what it's like to be a tranny and be utterly failed by institutions that say they exist to help you.

Fuck you and don't you dare forget that feeling.

I do have to point out that even with a more-accepting society, there is a gulf between "I am okay with queers" and "I am okay with my kid being a queer". People can support LGBT rights in the abstract and then get spooked when their own precious cinnamon roll makes them a "non-traditional family".

Push back on the propaganda and expose how the epistemic violence against trans people specifically and queer people write large has been allowed to stand unchallenged by people who used to claim to fight for us, but getting people to be okay with their own family being queer is also crucial.

At many times throughout this history liberal patriots in the United States have said "this isn't who we are, true patriots deny the evidence of their eyes and have a greater vision for what America is supposed to be" while the national project has been bloodshed and genocide.

We know that people are being horrendously abused in these facilities. It will take a long time for us to figure out exactly what that abuse looks like. But we can’t say that we didn’t know.

Emma is a war refugee and survivor of conversion therapy whose work, feminism, and feedback have all been invaluable to me and my nonfiction. Please consider helping her out if you can.
Due to being a refugee, I only get invited to interviews for menial and service jobs. Because of my disability, I can't work those. I live on modest and sporadic freelance earnings and can't afford surgical expenses. Please help if you can 🙏

There are many absolutely banging quotes but I think the one that best meets our history and the moment

“Trans people were vilified, villainized, and targeted on a scale that we could not hope to match—but even then, the storm could have been weathered if not one crucial issue.

We were abandoned.”

The people who came to Brianna's vigil were the many friends, as an isolated trans girl, she had made on social media. The people who were convicted of her murder knew her in real life, and used transphobic slurs to discuss her.
