Tourism boards creep me out. I can't fully explain it, but, I got an online ad for Georgia today. Georgia the state. Oranges, the KKK--that Georgia. And, that's not real. That's a place. That's a manaquin leaping off its stand to sing Ragtime Gal with no mouth. It's not real and it wants to hurt me.

Don't take photos in the theater, kids. But! Since I'm going to be too sad for social media later, I'm posting now. This is "Unzipped;" it's a documentary on housing in the US. I hope to learn from it, and then do something about it.

I watched Ben 10 on Cartoon Network when I was actually around 10 years old. I am now closer in age to Ben 10,000 from the episode where Ben and Gwen go to the future. I don't know how to feel about that but it's not great.

I still need to know how they're conducting these polls. Who answers the phone? Old people who want to bitch about something.

I'm guessing the reason the young voters didn't respond is because they're too busy trying to stop a genocide
Completely irredeemable country

Someone told me that using cast-iron cookware adds a little iron to your food. If that's true, then, if I use my skillet for long enough, and if I keep it from corroding, could I eventually wear it out by essentially eating through it?

Coming outside this morning and the birds are positively RAUCOUS. At first I'm like, "Aww! they're glorying in spring!"

And then I hear a leafblower and the loud hammering of construction and remember that birds are literally shouting to be heard over our noise. www.sciencenews.org/article/city...
City Song: Birds sing higher near urban traffic
Birds in noisier city spots tend to sing at a higher pitch than do members of the same species in quieter neighborhoods.

Yep. Just good and fine normal things that are fine. And good! And if the way things are makes you feel strongly that something is wrong and we could make a better would if we tried--squash that feeling! Because everything is fine and normal. And good!
It rocks how many ways they've invented to drive people insane. 24/7 news, sports betting on every single professional sport broadcast, cryptocurrency with entirely manipulated prices and social networks that constantly show you people better looking and richer than you, it's all very good

I have seen that glowing ball. It is usually displaying advertisements. It's haunting how little uproar there's been about the fact that the Sphere loses money while essentially being the world's biggest banner-ad superimposed onto the city skyline.

People just... acquiesced.
I was unprepared for how cool this glowing ball is!

I could spend a career analyzing the structure and failings of profession and bureaucracy under neoliberal capitalism--and smarter people already have!

But for now: it is *deeply* strange wondering if I'm disabled enough to get a discounted bus pass so I can go places in the city where I live.

It's so weird—I don't know any regular person in the UK who would advocate a US-style system. What they want is a better(-funded) NHS. People who talk about privatizing as a potentially good idea have a nasty hidden agenda.

In an unusual move, the five major broadcast and cable news networks — ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News — have prepared a joint open letter that urges President Biden and Donald Trump to participate in televised debates.

Move over Florida Man! Florida Woman has your number! She's just as goofy, but twice as insidious. And just to sweeten the pot, she thinks she's doing something meaningful.

Seriously I know this is part of the bread and circuses but it's too embarassing to resist.

In case you were wondering, the AP still frames the devastation in Gaza as a war, between Israel and Hamas, in which dead and displaced civilians are simply unfortunate collateral damage. The word "genocide" does not appear in the article.
