Update: we’re only $382 from $25k, our halfway point, in our fundraising campaign to finish a feature length documentary about Alex Odeh, a Palestinian activist assassination in LA in 1985. Donations go to sound mixing, graphics, color correction and insurance — the last steps!

In July 2024, Israel waited until Ismail Haniyeh *left* Qatar to visit Tehran before assassinating him.

Now it's just full-on bombing Qatar.

If the US had granted visas to PLO leaders to attend the UN meeting this month, I'd be very scared about Mossad operations in Manhattan.

Today, Prism is publishing a monthslong investigation by @laubast.bsky.social in partnership with Visualizing Palestine, that takes a deep dive into the experiences of repression that Palestinian, Arab, & Muslim journalists face in the U.S. while attempting to cover the genocide.

Curtis Sliwa from the Guardian Angels and current Republican candidate for mayor of New York appeared on Morton Downey Jr. in 1989 to confront a Jewish militant. He had with him an Arab American wearing a keffiyeh who supported the intifada.

Adding to the nearly 270 media workers Israel has eliminated in Gaza, here are 5 Al Jazeera staff that Israel struck fatally yesterday: Anas al-Sharif, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, Moamen Aliwa and Mohammed Qreiqeh.

They gave their lives so we could witness the crime of the century.

Forty years ago, Alexander Cockburn wrote this opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal. A similar essay could be written today, though Israel’s only expanded and intensified its war on journalism. And there’s no way the Journal would publish it.

In the early 1980s, Arab American activist Dr MT Mehdi predicted that the American public would eventually break with Israeli militarism. He was correct that Israel would produce “permanent wars,” but is so far wrong that American sponsorship would cease.

The @washingtonpost.com published a very small percentage of the names of Palestinian children Israel has killed in Gaza. In tiny print size, it still took up more than a newspaper page. The scale of destruction Israel has enacted on Palestinian lives is unforgivable.

We’re finally in post-production for our film on Alex Odeh, a Palestinian American activist who was assassinated in 1985 in Orange County. The case is still unsolved. Our documentary investigates this forgotten history. Please donate to help us finish it. t.co/BGxph8HCtW

When Israel was formed it dispossessed Palestinian refugees to Gaza among other places. It committed massacres there in 1956 and occupied it in 1967. October 7th came after years of bombings and siege, all so Israel can continue to steal land that belonged to the Palestinians. There’s a history here

You think it started on October 7th? Palestinian artist Iyad Sabbah created these statues amid rubble to depict Palestinians fleeing their homes during Israel’s shelling of the Shuja’yyeh neighborhood in Gaza in *2014* Israel has since flattened Gaza city and surrounding areas.

People who think it all started on October 7, 2023 need to see this editorial cartoon from 2014.

In a 1985 LA Times oped, Mark Bruzonsky compared Israel and South African apartheid. He described how he first rejected the analogy but then came to see it as apt. Now, of course, Israel’s variation has proven to be far more destructive and deadly.

Gaza has brought genocide to the centre of world politics and the idea of genocide back to the centre of political and intellectual debate. In The New Age of Genocide, due October 7, I dissect the genocide, the denial, and their implications for understanding. A 🧵

Students in California Universities are on hunger strike for Gaza. Haven't seen a single MSM outlet cover this

CSU STUDENTS LAUNCH UNITED HUNGER STRIKE FOR GAZA
We, the students of San Francisco, Sacramento, Long Beach, and San Jose State Universities, are beginning a united hunger strike in solidarity with the two million Palestinians at risk of starvation in Gaza. We refuse to be complicit in the Israeli occupation's siege on Gaza, which has left countless Palestinians suffering from malnourishment, disease, and death. Starvation as a tool of war and collective punishment has already taken the lives of 17,000 children in Gaza since October 2023.
Outside of the ongoing bombardment, the targeting of humanitarian workers and journalists, and the deliberate murder of civilians, Israel has added starvation to its arsenal. The Israeli government aims to continue the mass extermination of Palestinians by withholding food, water, medicine, fuel, and other supplies at the border, while barring humanitarian workers and medical aid from entering Gaza.
This siege on Gaza is another step in the genocide of Palestinians. It is a calculated effort intended to deprive Gaza and the Palestinian people of necessities needed to survive and live with dignity. Our hunger strike is an act of solidarity with Gaza and an answer to their call. We understand the urgency of this crisis, and we demand our university leadership to not only meet the following demands, but pressure other CSU presidents and the Board of Trustees to do the same. This is part of a larger student movement to ensure that California State Students' tuition, and the University's investments, are not complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
We, the students of Long Beach State University, acknowledge that our university and the California State University system remains complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
We the students demand that President Conoley and Vice President Lesen publicly commit to implementing the…

Four Columbia student journalists who covered a pro-Palestinian protest were issued an interim suspension.

This is a reminder of what’s at stake: Without a free press, people are left with propaganda, disinformation & silence.

Press freedom does not erode overnight. It's dismantled piece by piece.
