11 Sooty Shearwater, Merlin offshore @ Fife Ness this pm. Plenty of Pink-footed Geese including some stragglers struggling to landfall. This juv landed on the sea 100m offshore, rested for an hour, flapped its way towards the breakers and struggled up onto the rocks totally knackered #birdingFife

Otter this morning at the local reservoir, the first I’ve seen there for about a year

Black Tern south, a Whoooer Swan on the sea and a Merlin hunting incoming Meadow Pipit offshore the highlights of an hour first thing at Fife Ness #birdingFife

Went to see the White-rumped Sandpiper at Guardbridge that @simonpinder5.bsky.social had found and got very confused about its age as it skulked around in the grass. Resolution when an adult and a juvenile appeared on the mud as the tide fell #birdingFife

Turkestan Shrike - ad male, Dunwich Heath this afternoon. An excellent bird and find; photos in gloomy light not the best and was a little elusive early evening #ukbirding #suffolkbirding

I was standing near Daniel Gebauer when the Siberian Thrush broke cover and gave startled birders a rapid flyby at Asta yesterday. Beaming from ear to ear, he then showed several of us this stunning image he captured. Absolutely insane! Well done Daniel #ukbirding #birdingScotland

Nice to find this Rustic Bunting with the Mrs this evening on St Martin’s, Isles of Scilly. A subtle bird, in some ways, compared to obvious autumn males. Looks to be same bird found on St Agnes yesterday when comparing feather details. #ScillyBirding

Brown Shrike today! 1st for #StKilda and only the 4th for the Outer Hebs! Flighty and elusive, but combination of features confirmed ID, including uniform dark brown head and mantle, very dark mask, short wings, and very long, slim, reddish tail.

Yellow-browed Bunting trapped, ringed and released at the Swannery. It's flown to the hedge which runs alongside the Swannery grounds and the bird may be viewable from the permissive path heading west from Grove Lane.

Barred Warbler still at Balcomie, alternating between dispatching wasps high up in a huge Sycamore and berry-bashing low down in shrubbery

Migrant passerines few and far between again today. The highlight being the Spot Fly still at Upper Kilminning but then @simonpinder5.bsky.social found a thumping great Barred Warbler at Balcomie #birdingFife

A few Barnacle Goose, Wigeon and Teal past Fife Ness today in a brisk SE breeze #birdingFife

A black-eyed and a regular silver-eyed Northern Gannet at Fife Ness yesterday. Suggestion that this change in colour is linked to HPAI infection #birdingFife

Slow going migrant-wise during 4 hours this morning at Kilminning/ Balcomie, but livened up by a 30 minute flurry of a Lesser Whitethroat (my first in Fife this year), male Brambling and a Spotted Flycatcher #birdingFife

If you use the #birdingLothian tag your post will get picked up in the Birding Scotland Feed and the Birding UK/Eire Feed. If you haven’t already, I’d suggest pinning these two Feeds to your BlueSky ‘homepage’ - in BlueSky it’s all about the Feeds rather than the follows

Quite pleased to find this 1 cy Caspian Gull at Angle Park this evening. Not many records for Fife. Fewer than 5 I think accepted.
