All the cautions in my earlier statement still apply. As mayor, I’ll be excited to move forward with this if we've developed a solid plan with strong community buy-in, one that solves a real problem & is a wise use of resources relative to other things we could be doing. That’s just good governance.

(2) WA’s largest private-sector union, representing grocery workers, tells me they’re interested in partnering to create a public-option grocery store. With their industry experience and relationships, that becomes WAY more feasible.

What changed is pretty simple! (1) The Lake City Fred Meyer closure threatens to create a food & pharmacy desert in a neighborhood that clearly has the customer base to support a grocery store. The surrounding community is angry about it and looking for solutions.

curious to see what has changed for @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social in the last two months to wanting to explore this option for Seattle now
wilsonkatieb.bsky.social
In sum, I would love to do this in principle, but wouldn't want to do it just because it sounds good and then have it turn into a major drain on City time, energy, and resources without real measurable benefits for Seattle residents.

Mayor Harrell rejected my “insinuation” on Thursday that suing over 7-month-old executive orders four days before a primary might be political.
Today:

Just in case you needed evidence that Harrell’s campaign is fudging their numbers:

Quite an impressive feat to apparently create 1,000 new emergency units in the 12 days between when these two ads dropped

We're looking a little American Gothic
On the left the painting American Gothic by Grant Wood (a dour somewhat elderly white couple in front of a house, man holding a pitchfork), on the right me (Katie) and my husband Scott, him holding a bagel..

"Has Seattle had enough of business as usual?"

Pretty sure the answer here is a resounding YES.

AFAIK this is the first national reporting on @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social's campaign. By no means will it be the last. Our Mamdani, our Wu, our very own @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social.

You never know who you're going to run into in downtown Seattle...or whose video interview you're going to accidentally walk through.

Congrats on getting the @theurbanist.org endorsement, @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social!

This is a bold step by the city workers, who stand to lose a lot by angering the famously grudge-holding Mayor. It is sign of the spreading realization that Bruce is vulnerable and a sign of their courage that they are willing to take this risk.

Let's stand with the people who make Seattle work!
ericacbarnett.bsky.social
At a press conference at City Hall this morning, the Working Families Party and PROTEC17—the largest union of City of Seattle workers—endorsed Katie Wilson for mayor. The city union's endorsement is especially monumental because for most of these workers, incumbent Bruce Harrell is their boss.

I’m going back to an earlier theory that the $14k for oppo research paid someone to read all the columns I’ve ever written, an idea I quite like.
wilsonkatieb.bsky.social
Reconsidering this, as the most recent filing shows Harrell’s campaign itself spent $35k on polling — presumably telling them to paint me as an angry, divisive, cop-hating socialist. I hope he feels that was money well spent!
wilsonkatieb.bsky.social
I’m guessing this poll was paid for by the “Bruce Harrell for Seattle's Future” PAC, which has spent $14,000 on “Research Opposing Katie Wilson.”

The PAC’s major contributors include banks and landlord, realtor, investor, and developer groups. All the best people. The way we’re going to counter these attacks is by talking to voters face to face. Head on over to our volunteer page and sign up! www.mobilize.us/wilsonforsea...
