there's a bit of a bind where "he" [blatantly incredulous] feels worse than "they" [distant], but i think we can work up to a baseline expectation of "he" [neutral]. "i don't like your tone" is a perfectly apt response when i think someone is engaging with me like a toy instead of a person

life sucks but sometimes you meet people who immediately Get It, life sucks and you can't always help so stay really vigilant for moments where you can, kill your landlord, etc.

when you come across a moment of genuine warmth (someone offers you food, a stranger treats you like he would his own child, you get the option to say something with real conviction behind it) it hits hard

i feel like blanksword is fun in part bc it's more bitey and melancholy than most of its ilk. i missed having a game full of adorable critters that are depressed and angry for reasons outside of my immediate control. great game for people who want to be threatened by animal crossing villagers
