I would LOVE to see Rosemary Kirstein's Steerswomen books made into a four season series. Epic. Except it would have to be six seasons. Fifth and sixth books are in progress

I swear to god, the garden got MORE when I got back after a week. Like the relatively cooler weather made some of the perennials just explode. It’s nuts.

These things! I think this is Kudos mandarin hummingbird mint? WTF?

Looks like this story encompasses what we were trying to say in our paper earlier this year - the planning system has ended up acting as the last bastion of defence against a whole suite of negative outcomes - in this case it looks like water shortages - caused by failures elsewhere in the system...

A little bit of background suggests this is really potentially worrying and she knows nothing about what she's talking about. The snails are not "on the site" (if they were it would be less of a problem because you would just pick another site)...

That passage reminded me of games like Spec Ops: The Line, which try and implicate the gamer in the violence they offer, which are very much examples of that first message.

1) This was a spam network shared internally at Bluesky for investigation on spam likes. 2) I misclicked/unclicked, but a harassment bot picked it up 3) I continue to be harassed about it a year later

I'm offering a genuine response that I don't see the need for this continually to be raised.

in the current dystopia hellscape that is 2025 i'm so glad that at least once in a while we get some massively positive medical news

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a new mRNA vaccine that has been shown to suppress abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina, offering hope to MILLIONS of patients with age-related vision loss. The vaccine triggered strong antibody responses that REDUCED retinal damage by UP TO 85%.

Identifying public officials isn't "doxing." People have the right to know who is working for their government. Nor, for that matter, is it "radical left-wing terrorism." So it's frustrating to see platforms caving to these bad faith characterizations. www.technologyreview.com/2025/10/06/1...

Even as the whole opening ceremony was a celebration of a Britain lost and an attack on the country it had become under ConDem rule.

Many people see the coalition era London 2012 Olympics as basically the peak of Britain.

So if they launched... it could possibly kill off the Conservative Party completely and hurt Keir Starmer quite a lot as well. Their base is basically the only demographic who don't utterly despise him yet.

The media focus now is on whether the protest against genocide should be banned, whether it's "un British"to protest today etc etc etc, and the whole circus basically overrides any consideration of the hundreds of thousands of victims of state, paramilitary and terrorist violence in Palestine/Israel
mancalledhorse.bsky.social
Like it's more nuanced than I think I can effectively convey, but over 1100 Jews were murdered in antisemitic attacks by Hamas and their allies on a single day two years ago, and people need space to mourn that without media, Starmer etc using it for their own oppressive ends

Only a Republican can defend the values represented by our Nation's flag. If the political elite have their way we'll end up with a President who can't even speak the frickin language!

Gavin has shown himself unfit to be President. This is why we should let our current President take a third term, despite his age. Who cares what the constitution says.
