But if these 8 were selected by leadership to defect then there will be no pressure from other Senate Dems, no accountability, and the duty falls to voters in 3+ years to primary them. Many would take the bet that most voters will forget by then.

to make sure that no real accountability comes to Dem senators for this outrageous failure. At minimum, leadership should be ousted for not keeping them in line and those of the 8 who are in safe Dem states should resign and have competent replacements appointed by Govs.

Those 8 moderates, who are either retiring or will not be up for election in the near future, were for some reason unable to be kept in line by Dem leadership, and provided precisely enough votes to pass the vote. That their reelections are years away seems an odd coincidence, or a planned safeguard
