Privacy pro. Reading midwest sci-fi mockumentary screenplays and doodling in the margins. Hang on, my cat just knocked something over.

Some people say that jobs like hair dressers, plumbers and chefs are AI proof. I’m not so sure. Maybe AI can’t perform those jobs, but the workers it does displace won’t be able to afford as many haircuts, new bathtubs, and dining out. AI might not take your job, but it could take demand for it.

I still think the AI arms race is a bad reason to forego responsible governance, but this post puts a finer point on the innovations of DeepSeek and the efficacy of export controls:

Tough run for Leicester City. And the Wolves win today adds to the pessimism. When you can’t score—much less win—at home, it might be time for another relegation reset. I hate to see it but the Championship adds meddle the team is so clearly lacking ATM.

Vance is clueless indeed. The race for AI dominance is self defeating. As the US plows ahead regs be damned, China drafts in its wake, exploiting any innovations here for its own gain. Just look at DeepSeek, which redefined the LLM despite US chip sanctions.
America's new plan for AI safety is "let's see what happens." I wrote about JD Vance in Paris www.platformer.news/paris-ai-act...
