the pivot from “we’re not cutting medicaid” to “come on look at these lazy bastards” sure was speedy
Markwayne Mullin: "There are 35 million people that live below the poverty line inside the US. There are over 70 million people signed up for Medicaid. Now you're gonna tell me there's not room to make cuts?"

Carolinians, now that Thom Tillis is free to vote his conscience, you now have exceptional leverage over Senate votes. From now to December 2026, on every issue, light up that switchboard with calls to him. Start by thanking him today for his courage.

And print and save this phone list.

Maybe quit voting for their fucking bills then? Maybe quit confirming their nominees? Maybe shut down the Senate with the many procedural tools available to you? Maybe do something other than send sternly worded letters?
Sen. Padilla thrown to the ground, manhandled, brutally taken down, handcuffed

It's disgusting
Reeks of totalitarianism
Un-American
Not what democracies do

Sen. Padilla was in that building to ask questions of what's going on in California, doing his duty to his constituents

We need answers now
Senator Padilla’s office sends me this video of his take-down and detention at Sec. Noem’s press conference in L.A.

She is saying, in effect: "We are going to liberate the city from its democratically elected leadership using the military"
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

They’ll say they haven’t seen the video
Every elected Republican should be asked if they think the president has the power to send in military in to “liberate” a state or city from its elected government.

Why is ICE wearing masks? What are they hiding?

The Mayor of Newark was arrested at an ICE facility—when elected officials showed up, masked agents roughed them up, including an 80-year-old congresswoman. Why?!

It’s not that they don’t know what the constitution says. They know what it says. Just like they knew what it said when they asked Pence to ignore it.

They just don’t care.

They believe it can be rewritten by bending it to their will, if enough of them decide to do it.

JUST IN:

Federal judge orders the “immediate” release of Tufts University student, Rumeysa Ozturk, from detention.

“The main evidence against her appears to be an essay critical of Israel that she helped to write in a Tufts student newspaper last year.”

An essay.

I think we’re past sliding. We’re already there.
What happened before Mayor Baraka’s arrest needs daylight.

Did masked ICE agents let him in just so they could arrest and perp walk him to send a message of fear. Because that’s what it looks like.

We’re sliding into fascism—and fast. And if we don’t stop it now, we may not get another chance.

Even *if* you accept Stephen Miller’s (textually, historically, and morally indefensible) claim that undocumented immigrants are not entitled to due process, you’d *still* need due process to ensure that the individuals at issue are, in fact, undocumented.

His argument fails even on its own terms.
