Author, extrovert, can talk for hours about Les Miserables.
I still can’t figure out what’s lonelier:
-being a working mom of a baby (so no moms groups to attend etc)
Or
-trying to launch a book after years of not doing any author social media (so no connections, community, etc in the publishing world)

I’m having a morning of wishing I could chat books instead of work, so throwing some of my favorite titles out here to see if anyone else loves them!
Books:
The Abhorsen series
Swordspoint
Green Rider
The Charmed Sphere
Childhood throwback—the Unicorns of Balinor

There’s a tiny part of me that wants to re-start brooding ya hero over on this site…
But I kinda wonder if the humor will land the same?

Are there any support groups/discord servers/whatever for authors with babies? (Human babies not book babies 😂)
Still struggling with how incredibly lonesome early motherhood is

I miss 2017ish writer-social-media. I miss community and excitement and… connection?

I’m having the absolute hardest time finding a few good critique partners for romantic fantasy. I just want a fun group that writes in that genre and wants to both critique and chitchat about our books.
What am I doing wrong?

"It was too YA for me" - A review someone seriously wrote about a YOUNG ADULT NOVEL.

Adults, you are a guest in middle grade and young adult book spaces. If you can't remember and respect that, you shouldn't read books for these audiences at all. They aren't written for you, nor should they be.

I really really want to get a monthly critique group off the ground. Max of five members, probably fantasy genre. Read and add notes, meet once a month for a call.
Anyone interested?

I’ve always been told to watch my prose for dangling modifiers (Walking through the woods, the stars shone), “ tell-heavy” descriptions (rage erupted inside me), & adverb-heavy dialogue.

Lately, I’m seeing books with those things getting rave reviews. Do readers care less about prose now?

Something I really miss from oooooold twitter is deep dives into topics, especially pop culture etc.
I do think culturally a lot of that has shifted to group chats and private DMs, but gosh I miss it.

I get that readers love the forced proximity vibes but I am so so tired of romantasy books having two people sit comfortably on one saddle for days.

So many new followers! Hi! I write fantasy and historical romance. I used to be funny. Now I’m just tired.

Throwing this out into the void, but any YA/NA/Adult fantasy or romantasy writers looking for a critique partner?
I miss the writing world.

Anyone looking for a critique partner for ya or adult fantasy? (Or romantasy?)

I am absolutely in love with this art of my characters from my silly fae-romantasy side project.

If you have a secret passion for reading about other people's unbelievable streaks of bad luck, click on this. You won't be disappointed. I hate that this is written by an actual friend of mine. If it encourages you to throw $5 at them to help out, I wouldn't mind.
