“As we plan for what comes after this administration, we cannot afford to be nostalgic for what was in fact a flawed status quo and a system that failed so many,” [Harris] said. “We cannot advocate for, nor settle for, a simple return to what existed in the past.”

Senator Kelly is correct.

Plus a Public Service Announcement:

KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1.

The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal:
"orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Oh, I like this!
I recently came across this image and it’s a great way to summarize how I feel about my work. Whether supporting other consultants through resources or referrals, or supporting people in their data management work, helping to lift other people up benefits us all.

Good news!
After being elected nearly 2 months ago, Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva has been sworn in after creepy MAGA terrorist Mike Johnson blocked her.

In her floor speech she said she was ready to sign the Jeffrey Epstein discharge petition and has in fact signed it. Hell yes! 💙👊

I tend to open up a lot of tabs in my browser, thinking to look at them later. Sometimes it’s many many years later. I think this one’s been waiting for seven years.

I had a look at it today, and find it pretty stunning. I hope y’all enjoy it. www.smithsonianmag.com/history/firs...

Many of us grew up in the church being taught to root for Moses, Daniel, and John the Baptist in the Bible, only to grow up and have our churches question our faith for not cheering on the Pharaohs, Nebuchadnezzars, and Herods in our world today.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

I seen the same thing on a few different walls. I think it is very true. My biggest complaint with some of the older Democratic leaders is it feels like they’re still trying to play chess.

I agree with them that chess would be a better way to go, but both people have to be trying.

Been thinking about this photo. I remember pictures of clergy being attacked during the civil rights movement. This picture fits in.

It was never a good look for the attackers.

A pattern is developing where everyone who fights back against a Trump attack inevitably wins with their reputation much better than before, and everyone who caves to him looks like shit and has Trump coming back for more a month later.
