You wouldn't campaign to change this safe, efficient, sustainable transport corridor (#Hammersmithbridge) into the sort of hostile, car-choked shambles of frustration & delay that most key roads in @hfcouncil.bsky.social are would you @libdems.org.uk? I think Sarah Olney has got this wrong. #bikesky

The bar must be really low for footballers if cycling to work is so special it’s getting you a sustainability award
I think we should get more awards for regular commuters 🏅

Hammersmith bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists, boosting sustainable cross-river traffic.
One of the excellent routes it enables is featured in Jon Stone’s latest video on his 'London Cycle Routes' YouTube channel: Hammersmith to Roehampton in Wandsworth.

I would be interested in seeing a decent engineering drawing, details of how the motoring network has been unravelled and a forecast of expected cycle and motor flows.

Based on the image? Not a cycle street with parking bays sticking out like that.

What better way to kick off #BlackHistoryMonth than by shining a light on the first Black man to hold senior public office in London - #Battersea legend John Archer.

I never understood impatient drivers in London. They are usually just rushing to sit in the next bit of congestion 🤷‍♂️

YouGov survey of 1,000+ Londoners, post-tube strike said 1/5 cycled during strikes, 1/4 will now cycle more, with ~35% of central & East Londoners embracing cycling. Those areas tend to have more safe cycle routes generally than other areas of London currently.

If anyone’s around Tooting Common today or Tuesday, the heavy horses from Oakwood Clydesdales mowing by in between the lake and tennis courts, and by the woods to the right of Bedford Hill. GORGEOUS sight!

One day later, same road, no police was there to catch the taxi jumping the red lights, while pedestrians were still crossing!

(I’m not posting the video as I’ll submit it to the online. Just need to figure out if the Met or the City of London Police are responsible)
wundelin.bsky.social
That’s a good question, I think I had a similar situation with a video submission with no action taken.
I’d assume that standing there, the police can check that the traffic light is working properly, which they can’t guarantee with a video submission

Paying by the minute, many hire bike users are tempted to save some money by jumping red lights, but doing so might just add another £50 to the bill

The US Ambassador should be summoned and challenged over Trump’s rampant Islamophobia.

Trump continually spreads lies. In London, we celebrate our diversity and reject racists and bigots. London is the greatest city in the world in huge part due to @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social's leadership.

This cycleway is crucial as it provides an alternative to the congested CS3. One of the key improvements central London’s cycle network needs is to reduce the dependency on bottlenecks such as the Embankment and Blackfriars Bridge

Disappointing news from the city, where a new cycleway has been paused over floating bus stops. I’ve seen countless examples of why bus stop bypasses are necessary, but also dangerous behaviour of cyclists around them. They work all over Europe, so why are they so strongly debated in London?

Bianca Dos Santos was crushed by a lorry crossing the notorious Battersea Bridge in August 2023.
Two years later, in sentencing the driver, the presiding judge has said she "contributed to her own death": www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/2544526...
LCC's Women's Network responds... 1/4
A group of women on pavement on Battersea Bridge in foreground holding up a black banner with white text saying "Make Battersea Bridge safe for cycling" as a large group of cyclists ride past in the road next to them. Text from LCC's Women's Network reads:
"A 27 year old woman, Bianca dos Santos, was killed cycling over Battersea Bridge in August 2023. This month, the HGV driver who pleaded guilty to causing her death by careless driving was given a suspended sentence and two year ban for failing to check his mirrors and being distracted both by his cab console and a phone call. Yet the presiding judge said dos Santos “contributed to her own death” by riding up the inside of the lorry, as traffic moved forward slowly.
“The Highway Code says clearly that people cycling can pass stationary or slower-moving traffic on the left - dos Santos was cycling legally and sensibly. The issue here is, as is too often the case, not just a distracted driver but the dangerous conditions for cycling on Battersea Bridge. Rather than blame dos Santos, or cyclists, the judge should blame TfL, Kensington & Chelsea and Wandsworth councils for inaction that means thousands of cyclists who use this bridge daily continue to face dangerous conditions.”
