The iceberg, known as A23a, has been on a journey following the current into warmer waters for months. Now, it has begun the predicted and natural process of breaking apart, and eventually melting.

When I played second base as a kid, I wanted to be Ryne Sandberg. On the palm of my glove, it said Ryne Sandberg. The Chicago Cubs, for a period of time, were to me almost synonymous with Ryne Sandberg. I’m sure that’s true for many of you, too. It is with great sadness that I share the news, announced tonight by the Cubs, that Ryne Sandberg has passed away. He was 65 years old. A Hall of Famer and a Cubs legend, Sandberg had been battling cancer. He had a positive attitude throughout, and managed to be around the team a number of times over the past two years. I hope that his final days were filled with friends and family and love. We will always love you, Ryno.
