Chainsaw Man Part 2 is full of character foils. Everyone is like, in a spider web of foils with everyone else. Asa is a foil to Denji as protagonist who share similar story beats. Yoshida is to Fumiko is to Asa is to Miri. Yuko is Denji is Sexist Devil Hunters Chainsaw Wife, ect ect ect.

a take that unsettles me is when people argue that yoru’s sexual desire stems from asa, and i do not like that implication that she “wanted it”. it’s a slippery slope
i also think it’s more interesting to think yoru’s feelings grew independently of asa’s, or were exacerbated for different reasons
