Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

I don't often call for resignations. But Sir Robbie Gibb's role in the BBC boardroom coup makes his continued role there untenable. He must resign or be removed
‘Gibb’s supporters say he is trying to save the BBC from itself; he was also heard last year to say that if he didn’t get his way, he would “blow the place up”.’
“a group of politically-appointed directors has forced the hand of Samir Shah, the chair, and the departure of the two most senior people in the organisation. Their resignations should be called out for what they are: political interference..”1/

‘Because if more than 400 women can come forward — with consistent, credible evidence — and the law still cannot name what was done to them, then the question is no longer whether there was trafficking.

It is whether Britain still believes in justice at all.’

One law for the rich….

Excellent thread. (Explainer: For those not in the UK, our Covid vaccine offer is now extremely limited).
I've never really understood the logic of "targeted vaccination".

Of course, money is a huge issue and we seek to get the most out of every £ spent.

Of course COVID and flu waves would be far worse without it.

But, what doesn't sit well for me is the following...

Very interesting.

You won’t be surprised to hear that, for instance Rupert Lowe’s tweets “make up 24% of the posts our users were sent from the 33 accounts we compared. But his posts only make up 6% of their total posts.”

He thinks it’s because he’s so engaging 🤪 but this experiment says NO

Congratulations to Lidia Morawska, the Aussie scientist who alerted the world to the airborne nature of COVID-19. Winner of the Prime Minister’s Prize for Science. I’ve learnt so much from being a (very minor) part of Lidia’s team. Brilliant, incisive, generous.

I try to be professional on this platform but there are times, like now, when it hits me hard on a visceral level that we are in the midst of a catastrophic global public health crisis and it seems, as a species, we've somehow decided that ignoring it is the best plan we've got.
