Jessica: When I hear Republicans out there talking about their plan for education in America, I don't hear them talking about making sure disabled kids have access to a public education.

Greg: Because we're against it.

This is going to kill many public libraries, especially in rural areas. If you use a public library, you will be impacted. #imls is a dust mote in the federal budget. It also provides things like internet at your local library so people can apply for jobs and kids can do homework.

This elderly man showed up to support an anti-trans bill in my home state and then, because he had to wait hours to testify, he was stuck listening to queer folks rally against it

By the time it was his turn to speak, he'd changed his mind

Never doubt that speaking out can change hearts and minds

A federal judge a few days ago paused a planned execution in Louisiana.

Louisiana was set to become just the 2nd state to use nitrogen for an execution, in Alabama. The judge ruled the method too agonizing.

AND: The judge cited Bolts' reporting on a nitrogen execution last fall in her ruling.

Meet Gracie Himes, age 20.

Her goal: Fight cancer by developing new medicines.

On March 3, her dreams were shattered when Trump admin cuts hit West Virginia University, which rescinded her PhD program offer.

the tesla protest might objectively be among the most successful in history already just in terms of immediate response, if you consider they forced the world’s most powerful person & its most wealthy to fully degrade themselves like used car salesmen on live TV while the whole world watched agog.

I’m struck by the Trump administration’s attempt to redefine equality as discrimination against white people. This is a deeply racist idea that *equal outcomes* must be unfair, assuming white people are naturally at the top of the hierarchy.

some helpful reminders:

-not all jews support israel
-criticizing israel is not the same as being antisemitic
-being pro-palestine does not equal being pro-hamas
-arresting someone for being pro-palestine is a violation of the first amendment
-violating someone’s first amendment rights is bad

“Contrarian thinkers” will be the death of us. Serious action on the biggest challenges of our time delayed for years because people with huge media platforms were “just asking questions”:

“Is that trans person really human?”
“Is that right arm really that salute?”
“Is that iceberg really melting?”

You should know that a big part of 18F's work was to make sure multi-million to multi-*hundreds*-of-millions dollar contracts at fed *and* state level didn't go to shitty enterprise IT consultancies that *repeatedly* delivered tech that didn't work, was late, or didn't even do what it needed to

As someone who spends a lot time thinking about the values I want to teach my kid (besides PLEASE DON’T EAT DIRT), the thing I keep coming back to is this: I want him to believe that the strongest, bravest thing he can do is give a shit about other people—especially ones who aren’t like him at all.

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company.

It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create.

They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms.

I’m happy to invest and/or help

It’s nice how they’ve replicated the middle school dynamic of the insecure bully and his sniveling sidekick picking on someone surrounded by a circle of scared little boys who also try to talk shit so the bully doesn’t come after them.

Or as the right calls it, “masculinity.”

One thing that's important here: the IDs that are being banned here are STATE-ISSUED IDs!

We're specifically talking about the IDs of the state's public universities like Indiana University.

Check out the article for more: boltsmag.org/indiana-bann...
Indiana Republicans Move to Ban Student IDs for Voting - Bolts
The new restriction, paired with Indiana’s stringent voter ID rules, would make it much harder for many young people to vote in a state that already ranks near-last in turnout.

I reported today on IN banning university IDs for voting. This person just went on spree of 10-replies like this.

What they ignore: There's no such thing as "a voter ID." What there is, is a list of IDs that states authorize for voting. In this case, something is being redefined as "not a voter ID"
