🧵"So this is how liberty dies..."

Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up.

I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Although everything feels wretched right now, he won’t be Teflon Don forever. Hang in there and ffs don’t obey in advance.

Truly horrific.
Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections."
Each defendant assaulted him.

I’m so thirsty for what might have been but at least Kamala broke new ground and did great work while she had the chance. Here’s hoping she gets another.

The reality is that Salesmanship is the differentiation between the two parties.

The Dems couldn't sell dollar bills for 50c

Trump has found his audience and can sell them dollar bills for $5

When everything is a story the algorithm flashes at you as you scroll, you better be selling fast
It is truly about who tells a better story — or really a story people want to hear and makes them see what they believe rather than believe what they see.
More jobs have been created under Biden than during the full terms of Trump, Obama, or Bush 43. @danprimack.bsky.social www.axios.com/2025/01/10/i...

I’m impressed and delighted this level of email incompetence is still possible.
omg a student somehow accidentally wrote an email addressed to a faculty-wide NYU listserv and my inbox is now a master class on who understands the difference between a listserv and an email chain

I just shouted “Does anybody have chocolate?” in the middle of the office and the response was giggling and an immediate supply. Recommend this if you are in need.

Once you open the door to extreme anti-social acts, anti-social actors widen the definition of the targeted class to include more and more people, until you realize why we had an anti-violence principle in the first place. Better to just stick with the principle than rediscover it the hard way.
I don't think it is possible to construct a limiting principle around "people who do great harm should be assassinated" and it's definitely impossible to build a consensus around one -- opens the door to killing politicians, journalists, doctors providing abortions or trans health care, etc.

Not all heroes wear capes
Holy shit. Did you see the letter Olivia Troye’s attorney sent to Kash Patel after he threatened to sue her for defamation? Troye, a former Homeland Security advisor, had the BEST response.

Neat. That’s my new insurance carrier as of January 1st, although I’m coming from UHC which is known to be the absolute worst.

I’m so ready for Medicare for all. Guess I’ll check back in about 6 years from now.
One year ago, my friend Carole, a single parent with terminal cancer, was prepped for a lung transplant when Cigna suddenly denied coverage. Only a massive outcry saved her.

Feeling thankful today for the many who rallied—and still furious it took that to stop an insurance company from killing her

BREAKING: The U.S. House just passed a bill that could devastate nonprofits, chill free speech, and hand Trump unchecked power.

Why H.R. 9495 is a disaster waiting to happen and why the U.S. Senate must reject it. ⬇️
