I would like to join the Thunderbolts*. My superpower will be that I will stop them from saying "copyright" when they should say "trademark."

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

So, anyone is now free to use Dean's image in advertising and on products and merchandise. Because Dean died so young, he is one of the first of these iconic actors to reach this status. The next big one is probably Humphrey Bogart, whose 70 years will run on 1/14/2027.

This week marked a significant day in IP history. Tuesday was the 70th anniversary of the tragic death of James Dean. The significance of that is that California's Right of Publicity law (Civ. Code 3344.1) only protects the rights of celebrities for 70 years. 1/

What they say: "This open world game is huge!"

What they mean: Of the 100 hours spent playing this game, 95 of them will be spent on a horse traveling from one mission to another.

I saw One Battle After Another last week and I am predicting that it will be a big surprise hit in the same way Sinners was. The movie rocks!

This is one thing giant movie studios can still do--the crazy big swing that costs a lot of money and is not tied to an algorithm or concern about "viewer retention rate at minute three"--that no other entity can. It is one reason the film ecosystem still needs them.

if you're a person who doesn't see the unalloyed good in Warner Bros spending $150 million on a loose Pynchon adaptation by Paul Thomas Anderson, we simply do not occupy the same reality

Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?

Headed to Halloween Horror Nights tonight. Terrifier & Friday the 13th! Art the Clown & Jason Voorhees! My worlds collide (in the best way). Can't wait. See you all there.

Yes, but since it's so predictable, I just add 25 minutes to the movie start time and I miss all of that. No one is forcing you to show up at 8:00 when you know the film won't begin until 8:25

Just add 25 minutes to the posted start time of any movie to skip the commercials

For my L.A. Blueskyers, if you haven't been to the Regal Sherman Oaks lately, they've upgraded most of the theaters and done a great job. Reclining seats, perfect sightlines, and the screens are noticeably brighter. IMAX coming in November. Check it out!

Fun fact. The actor playing Banzai the Hyena on Broadway, James Brown Orleans, was a file clerk at my law firm in the 90's. He has been playing Banzai for 25 years and loves it.
