The ratio varies, but the Utah Food Bank gets $7.23 for every dollar! Give a hundred bucks and you’ve given 723.00! For the Christianity-inclined among you, it’s a real loaves-and-fishes kind of thing.
Remember that while food banks welcome donations of food, they prefer $$$$$$$. They have deals with grocery stores and suppliers. You can only buy one dollar's worth of food for one dollar, but they can buy several dollars' worth. So don't, like, buy food to donate it, just give 'em the dough.

I’ve been regularly volunteering at a food bank for about a year and please, if you want to help, consider donating cash.
For $3, they can provide 15 meals and what they can do with the money you might spend on a few cans can be converted to vastly more in fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, or meat.
