I thought of posting some old stuff from birdsite, so hey, #ThrowbackThursday :D

One of my first pieces of #pixelart that got quite some attention over there XD

The Tower of Babel. We actually have the original in our local art museum and I got to see it once^^
Pixelart study of "The Tower of Babel" by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1563. A partially finished round tower of stone spans a plane from the town in the background to the left to the ocean or a wide river on the right, dwarfing the two- and threemasted ships nearby. It has seven storeys on the outside to the left, while only one is completed on teh ocean side and two more are almost finished. The tower seems to be partially cut out of a massive piece of rock and built with bricks or precut stone blocks. in the front to the left is a group of people, royalty and companions overseeing the construction and both servants and craftsmen working on more stone blocks.
