The @washingtonpost.com's Emma Uber & @teoarmus.bsky.social caught @mayorbowser.dc.gov in a bald-faced lie. On Tuesday, she said "ICE is not patrolling with MPD." Confronted that day with video of ICE patrolling with MPD and abducting people handed to them by MPD, she was forced to change her tune.

As a worker involved in this fight, there is truth to this. But we only got this far in stopping repeal a second time because we had strong allies in the Council and a clear record of public support. The traitors here were liberals on the Council unaccountable to any mass orgs/base.
DC and the tipped wage thing a good demonstration of the limits of "you gotta win people over" and "you gotta vote". they've won the people over. they've won the vote. they've done this repeatedly. the first vote to do this was in *2018* with initiative 77. and still DC goes "nope."
DC residents have TWICE passed a measure eliminating the tipped wage and yet the council has yet again undone their votes wamu.org/story/25/07/...
