the GOP can pass everything they want anyway bc everything "they want" can happen in reconciliation bills

Josh doesn't anticipate them actually doing a national abortion ban. which may be a bit optimistic on his part

anyway the filibuster wouldnt go away until we have trifecta so it's moot

Harvard grads can call the Harvard Alumni Association and politely let them know they won't donate to the school as long as Summers is working there. Their number is 617-496-0559.

Extremists depend on your outrage to spread their memes far and wide. Whether it's Musk or Musk's chatbot, the same lesson applies.

Stop posting grok conversation screenshots unless you have the depth and you plan to take time to place it in a context beyond "omg look what the nazi chatbot said"
Let's talk about how to report on right-wingers without amplifying their hateful rhetoric. Far-right extremists count on YOU to spread their messages for them. Here's a thread of resources.

I was able to see it through the clouds, I think

Looks like a white section but I put my phone to it and it was like a bright blue clearing in the clouds

This is true, there's a cult for everyone out there. It's not recommended to go to cult meetings to try to "beat it" , these are extremely suggestive and coercive environments and if one has your name on it, you might get hooked

i think schumer and all of them planned to pull the plug on the shutdown for the whole time. "we have to do it and then pretend we were against shutting it down. because shutdowns dont actually work". I sort of agree with analysts (read: not idiots like me) who have this take

he makes a good point that no shutdown has ever worked

the "i told you sos" are emphasizing that no shutdown has ever gotten anything, ever. Even on bsky, "What did you expect, the shutdown would last through 2026? w/ no air commerce?" is around, asking everyone to express what exactly they thought would happen. So what did you think would happen?

Gabe agrees with the top poster here that shutdowns by definition will get the party that starts them nothing, and in this case they got a few small things. He expresses that Schumer et al knew they'd have to end the shutdown all along but were forced by political pressure to appear to do something

here's a depressing take on the whole thing www.wakeuptopolitics.com/p/this-is-ho...
This is How Shutdowns Always End
It’s never the leverage that minority parties imagine.

are you saying this shutdown should not have been undertaken in the first place? since the originating party will never "win" it
