I'm not sure how much I believe she wrote NOTHING between completing 1989 and pivoting from TS6's original concept to Reputation, but if she did have a period of writers block then, this could be another layer to what she means by broken arm.

And I do think the arm=wing interpretation has merit.

With a "broken" arm, Taylor either can't write the way she wants, or isn't as in control over what she writes as she would like to be.

The alt speculation to Karma theory is writer's block theory. Some interviews from the time have Taylor saying she hadn't written much after turning in 1989.

I interpret it in a very body horror sense, where arms are associated with agency & control over your life/destiny.

With Taylor I think there's a couple other layers to it. Your hand (which a woman "gives" in marriage) is on your arm. But Taylor's hands/arm also write/play songs, too.

This comes from the opening scene of ‘High Pressure Low’, Katlynn is coming into her own as a fighter pilot, and has just managed to neutralize a flight of SRMs despite the Gemini’s lack of any automated hard kill defenses. A fixed laser array, and a set of brass balls proved sufficient.
“Try that again mother fucker!” Katlynn shrilled. The autocannon thundered and the offending Gemini collapsed at the knee, she unleashed another salvo of SRMs, which the damaged Gemini was powerless to stop. The reactor signature ceased to register on the hud, “Now stay down!” Fuck, she was sexy when she was angry. “Last bogey, Devereaux.” Kettering hollered. She could use the comm, but knew from experience that the modulated tones wouldn’t get anyone’s attention after an exchange like that, “Make me proud!” “Yes, ma’am!” The 2nd Lieutenant screamed back. She squared the Gemini up to the last enemy machine, and leveled the left arm mounted cannon. There was a dull, metallic thud. A misfire. There was no easy way to clear that in the field, especially not during an active firefight. A wordless scream of frustration echoed around the cockpit. The armor damage alarm shrieked, and the laser array went offline as return fire raked the fighter. The last salvo of missiles had left Devereaux with an empty ammo bin. Kettering opened her mouth to tell Katlynn to retreat, but it was too late. The jump jets fired again, propelling the Gemini at its opposite number, feet skimming just above the churned up ground. The plasma lance was a risky option, but she had seen Devereaux put down opponents with it, so she held her tongue for the moment.

Only slightly contorted arm and feet. Wearing a pretty lolita dress in all 3 images. Poofed out like a cupcake. Dress is below the knee above the ankle. There is a floral deer print on it. One foot is backwards. The feet are wearing pink hello kitty socks. Shows arm twisted backwards in a way that will show. I can make it go all the way around but doesnt look as twisted despite being more when I do that. The elbow looks kind broke backwards. I have on a frilly blouse with bell sleeves.
