I'm so conflicted on that VAR call. Konate has just thrown Brobbey to the ground off the ball - not for the first time. The ball is nowhere near, so it doesn't *feel* like a penalty, but if you let him do that, there's no disinsentive. I'd like those to be given, in general.

I love watching Brian Brobbey, because he's unlike any other player in the league.

But I would be interested to see a team defend him a little differently. Don't offer contact, at all. If he gets to the ball first, let him have it. He is always searching for a defender, what would he do in space?

Before you choose which game to watch tonight, Marco Silva is played 13, lost 13, against Manchester City. It's probably not worth your time

Yeah, the framing of this in United squad terms is silly.

It’s repulsive, and nothing to do with whether football teams have overseas players
United could have not one single “immigrant” in their squad, their backroom staff, their academy or anywhere in their club and this would still be atrocious bollocks.

"Colonised". Yes, he said that. He really did.

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank.

Thomas Frank sacked by Tottenham
Spurs are winless in their last eight league games and have won just two of their last 17.

I've seen some silly cricket. But I think that's the silliest cricket I've ever seen.

Unreal.

Also, if you face the last ball of a super over, you surely shouldn't be able to face the first ball of the next one?
Hot take: super over would be better if there was no limit on wickets

If you're not watching, switch it on. A tied super over so they'll be going through another one in a minute.
SA v AFG is the game that keeps on giving #T20WC

It is 2046. Humans are living happily on the moon. And this game enters its 8 millionth super over

What a baffling end to the game. I suppose if you’re that bad at batting you could think a risky two is better than 1 and 2 balls to win it? But then you run hard! How can both teams throw it away in one over??

They probably have enough, but this has been wonderfully Pakistan from Pakistan!

That is an UNBELIEVABLE catch. New Zealand are incredible at that sort of thing (except at a key moment in a World Cup final!)

(not great work on the tech, we haven't seen how good it was at all, but I'm sure it was legal)

Today is a serious day! The prime minister is at risk of being toppled! The Scottish Labour leader has called for him to go! What Rayner and Lammy and Reed say now really does matter!

And they're saying it pretty much exclusively on a site that is arguably incomptable with UK law

Sitting halfway between Arsenal and Cricket? Within football media.

Sounds not entirely wrong...

If the ref plays advantage you should be able to have a free foul to even things up.

Is that what people want? 😄
February 8, 2026 at 6:35 PM
Nothing the referee can do, right decision. But very silly
No goal and Szoboszlai red? I get why but ... a bit of common sense, just let the goal stand?
February 8, 2026 at 6:31 PM
Szoboszlai clearly fouls Haaland. Should be a red card. Then Haaland clearly fouls Szoboszlai. So surely you can’t just play advantage? I honestly have no idea

Could have had four yellows today, and the one he did get was knee high
If Bernardo Silva were:
A) taller
B) English
or C) playing for a smaller club

he'd be sent off every third game
