All I want is to pay 1% more tax so people who need social care get it. People with kids are able to contribute by having affordable childcare. That kids are able to attend fully staffed and well maintained schools.
These things don't affect me directly but as a country, it for the greater good.

I only heard about this from the Telegraph's incredibly snooty review (have they ever liked anything on TV?). It was a great watch. Probably gets quite samey if they do it again, but as a one-off... enjoyed it a lot

That is a quite magnificent way to seal a quite magnificent test and series win! Well played South Africa

Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled ten wicketless overs and scored ten runs batting at 7 and 9.

In going to say that wasn’t an inspired selection

India have 'drawn' Pakistan in the group stage
India have the final group game, meaning that they'll go into that game knowing what's required in terms of run rate
When did both those things last happen?
What are the odds?

It's weird, I've had a BBC push notification about a crime, but it didn't say the perpetrator's nationality... I wonder where they're from?

This is going to be put on many walls, I suspect. What a fabulous frame!

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

That’s a fantastic goal. But also, it weirdly felt like it had been coming - Everton carrying the bigger attacking threat since going down to 10

Let’s just say if Bruno Guimaraes did that, it would be considered not sufficiently violent for a red card
Can VAR look at that? Because while Gueye lost his head, there’s nothing in that that’s red card worthy!

I agree with this article, in that I was very surprised (on watching the replay) that the first Eze goal stood - and that no fuss seems to have been made about it! Of the ones I've seen in the last few weeks, it seemed to me the most obvious 'in line of sight' call. And it stood. Lovely!
Maybe it was all very predictable.

After being enraged by their disallowed goal at Manchester City before the international break, Liverpool got stung again by the confusing subjective offside law.

What is going on with offside, and can it be fixed?

After more controversy with subjective offside in the Premier League this weekend, can anything be done to change it?

Declan Rice now has 18 Premier League goal assists since joining Arsenal, just one fewer than Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka and seven more than Phil Foden.

So much to enjoy about yesterday, but I love the first goal. The snide knee from Richarlison, which Merino ignores. The pass, the finish.

But also, look at Spurs' right back. The guy who should track Trossard. Standing still, miles away, appealing. No point in five defenders if they can't defend!

I normally enjoy a healthy balance in my life between football podcasts and cricket ones. Given this weekend’s results, I think it might just slightly skew towards football this week!

This is a great piece (all pieces on today’s game are great, but this is extra good as it goes into detail on the Sol tifo)

But I also love that, because it’s official Premier League, the stats are super precise - the goal from 33.3 yards, etc
Eze, the lifelong Arsenal fan, from an Arsenal-supporting family, let go by the Gunners as a teenager in 2011 before coming full circle 14 years later and scoring a treble against Tottenham.

There are dreams, and then there is this.

Spurs came with a back five and two DMs, Arsenal score 4 open play goals and people call us Stoke City.

Arsenal have now scored 6 more League goals than Liverpool, who everyone says are exciting and added £350m of forwards this summer.

You really have to question Tottenham’s decision to repeatedly give Ebere Eze, arguably Arsenal’s best ball-striker, time and space on the ball in and around their box.

I probably would have done a different tactics.
