George Springer finished 7th in AL MVP Award voting.

A remarkable season in every way. Few players in baseball exceeded expectation like Springer did and he did it at 36.

The most important player, I’d argue, on the 2025 #BlueJays

It’s silly season, but the #BlueJays have a serious opportunity sitting in front of them.

I'd expected John Schneider to win AL Manager of the Year and that would have been fully deserved.

Regardless, the #BlueJays have their franchise manager in Schneider. Young players have "jump years". Schneider, as a young manager, just had his.

#Bluejays skipper John Schneider does not win AL Manager of the Year. Instead, it's Stephen Vogt of Cleveland.

I mean, mazel tov to him for #Guardians coming back from 15.5 games back, helped massively by a #Tigers collapse, but worst to first.

Vogt got 17 1st-place votes, Schneider 10.

Just put Thursday's episode of Deep Left Field to bed and you're gonna love it!

I talk to former #Bluejays bench coach Don Mattingly about SO many things, including his first-ever trip to the World Series and the great shape in which he thinks he left the team. Plus, we open the mailbag!

HAPPY DEEP LEFT FIELD DAY!!!

With the #WorldSeries in the rear-view mirror, we’re back to our regular Thursday afternoon drops and a new episode is coming your way soon, featuring former #Bluejays bench coach Don Mattingly’s exit interview.

While you wait, check out the column I wrote off it:
Mike Wilner: Don Mattingly reveals why he left the Blue Jays, and how the IKF disaster might have been averted
Mattingly, soon to get another shot at the Hall of Fame, also defends the controversial José Berríos hook in the 2023 wild-card round.

Happy Birthday Addison Barger. He hit 23 career HRs for the #Bisons. Hit 21 HRs for the #BlueJays last season. Had a 1.025 OPS in the postseason for Toronto. Belted first pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history in Game 1. Slashed .480/.536/.680 in the Fall Classic.

You'll hear outgoing #Bluejays bench coach Don Mattingly on Thursday's new episode of Deep Left Field.

He talks about what he'd do over in the bottom of the ninth in Game 7 of the World Series if he could and about being in the meeting where the decision was made to yank Berrios early in 2023!

George Springer not winning comeback player of the year is absolutely fucking absurd. I’ve never seen a team get fucking shafted as badly as the #Bluejays have with these awards this year. Robbed of 3 Gold Gloves and Manager of the Year. Fuck the MLB 🖕🖕🖕 #Canada

John Schneider took a team that was in last place a season ago, won 94 games to win the division, won the ALCS and were 2 outs away in Game 7 from winning the World Series and DOESN’T win manager of the year. Complete and utter horseshit. Like I’ve always said, the MLB hates the #Bluejays #Canada

November 13, 1990 (1/2) - Five years after last appearing on a Cy Young Award ballot, the #BlueJays' Dave Stieb finishes in a fifth-place tie for 1990's top honour, with two third-place votes from 28 BBWAA scribes.

It's the mainstream's belated acknowledgement of his return to form in 1988.

November 15, 1989 (1/3) - Bret Saberhagen romps to the 1989 Cy Young Award…and he absolutely deserves it.

But one pitcher - the difference-maker in the AL East division race - is totally absent from the BBWAA ballot.

Guess who, Dave Stieb fans?
