Alcestis is Nay's (@myutoeve.bsky.social) OC! she's always been one of my faves from them but i always found her deceptively hard to draw. Still, hope you all don't mind a repost too much, i still like her

If you enjoyed "Song of Achilles" I would recommend "The Silence of the Girls" by Pat Barker, "A Thousand Ships" by Natalie Haynes and especially Katharine Beutner's "Alcestis" which predates Song of Achilles and is about Alcestis hooking up with Persephone in the underworld.

8. La Paciente Silenciosa - Alex M.
(MAYO)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Historia lenta hasta que se convierte en un thriller desenfrado que no puedes dejar de leer.
He estado OBSESIONADO con la paradoja de Alcestis y con Alicia.
🏆 Plot twist completamente INESPERADO que me ha dejado alucinado. #BookSky

I wonder if that other figure is maybe Herakles going to the underworld to rescue Alcestis…? Views, anyone? He’s holding something in his right hand but I can’t find a photo that shows what it is (particularly if it’s his club).

I believe that it actually has relevance, but on a cosmic level (I touch upon this in my forthcoming paper on Kronos' curse). Apollo highlights the law of equivalent exchange: death for death for death (until Zeus, angry at Apollo, relents and sends Heracles to save Alcestis!)
