Don't tell the bassoon what it's called...

(Yes I know that's a bassoon line, that was an intentional misreed)

When I was in college to become a teacher, I must have missed the day when they told us how to handle a fourth-grade special ed class when you're teaching a lesson on character traits, and the pipes in the wall start making a sound like someone farting into a bassoon, and it just never stops.

I combined two of my hobbies at the weekend - the 3rd bassoon/contrabassoon part in Bruckner’s 8th symphony has quite a few bars rest so I took my knitting along to the rehearsal. #knitting #bassoon

Among the standard orchestral woodwind instruments, Mozart vastly preferred the clarinet (he HATED the flute and felt the oboe and bassoon lacked expressive range). His acquaintance with the mellow sound of the Austrian clarinetist Anton Stadler clearly informed his opinion.

Random #ocqotd for everyone/anyone (was listening to a song and just had a thought 🤣)

What would your OC's instrument/sound be? (not what they play, but what represents them best. Think 'Peter and the Wolf' if you've watched or listened to it and that makes any sense)

Thank you! And yes I've always liked the big instruments. I started on tenor sax, moved to Bari sax, then baritone and finally tuba. Though I spent a semester with the bassoon for fun. Then I played tuba in college!

I should get a bassoon, because that’s just fun, but they’re terribly expensive and don’t see being able to get into a group I enjoy any time soon. There are just too many decent bassoon players here now.

I met a friend in Rome from a language exchange app and visited the museum on musical instruments.

Here are some photos in case anyone needs to see a piano cross with a harp, or a bassoon that looks like a dragon.
