BREAKING: SCOTUS will not grant the Trump administration’s request to allow it to fire Shira Perlmutter, the director of the Copyright Office, at this time. It puts off any decision while the court is considering the other two firings cases. Perlmutter stays in office during that time.

Really nice profile of horn player/composer David Amram. His Blues and Variations for Monk is a standard in my studio because it’s a good intro to jazz style for horn players, alongside extended techniques. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/24/a...
At 95, David Amram Still Makes Music. And Nobody Can Put Him in a Box.

They don’t need a pill, learning the French Horn will give someone a lifetime dose of imposter syndrome
We have to turn impostor syndrome into a pill and give it to every prominent person in this country. They should constantly be worrying that they're stupid

Every time a student misses something on a test all I can ever think about is that tagline from “The Snowman:”

“Mister student. You could have saved your grade. I gave you all the clues.”

Bluesky is a safe space for horn players… so I’m gonna admit that I will never ever subject my own college students to a 7am (or earlier!) warmup time. Why is that concept so popular for brass players?

7am is either time to wake up… or I’m still asleep. I don’t want to think about work that early.
