Hard to find the sunset this evening. The overhead clouds seem to be clogging the sky. The water fowl are huddled together for warmth. I did not see any small birds. No sounds either except for an occasional gull’s shriek. I filled all feeders and left mounds of seed.

Before today, I could count on one hand how many Sandhill Cranes I had seen (three!). Today, I happened to see a flock of 17, and then 4 more flew over.

It was bitter cold this morning, but I couldn’t wait to get out in the snow before anyone else. I snuck out at 7 o’clock only to find that the snow plows had been there before me.
