Sometimes when I drive home in the evening, there are beautiful sunsets. I want to pull over on highway. This would be irresponsible. Unless, my granddaughter is driving the car. Then, no problem. Shoot through the windshield. The problem then…dirty windshield.

When I was a child, most of my dreams were of flying. I remember the beauty of the world from the sky, I don’t remember feeling temperature or the rush of wind through my hair. I remember the feeling of soaring through the clouds. What do birds feel flying through cold air?

I don’t think I am a winter photographer because when it gets this cold all I can think about are warm baths. I can’t find the birds & the flowers are gone. There is ice. There is lots and lots of ice! I’m originally a California girl.

I went to feed the birds at the frozen inlet. I was as cold as the ice. I fought the sun to get this one shot of a juvenile gull that looked stuck to the surface. Galen Rowell said: "The light changes so fast that by the time you've thought about the shot, it's gone."

Sigh! My human is trying to perfect her black and white photography without getting out of bed. Everyone knows you don’t capture ginger cats in a black and white photo. What’s the point?
