#Bombyliidae
Ive been trying to pay more attention to the insects we save from the pool. The iphone photographs them poorly but this very small (6mm long) is a bee fly of the family Bombyliidae but I cannot identify more.

Greater bee flies (Diptera: Bombyliidae: Bombylius major) are found in woodlands thoughout much of North America. Adults are usually seen in the spring feeding on wildflowers. Their larvae, however, are parasitoids of wild bees. Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina, 11 Apr 2016.

Revision of the parasitic flies of the genus Hemipenthes Lw. (Diptera, Bombyliidae) of the Palaearctic region
The genus Hemipenthes was established by Loew (1869) as monotypic, with a single species, II. morio L. The character by which this species was distinguished from the genus Anthrax was the presence of pulvilli. Subsequently, various authors ...

Hembra de Parageron sp (Bombyliidae) bebe néctar con su gran probóscide. Esta familia se caracteriza por ser cleptoparásita, es decir, que deja su huevo en el nido de otras especies como abejas, predando la larva o huevito hospedante.

🪰 Insects of the genus Usia (Bombyliidae).
When Usia visitation rates were low, pollen quality on short-styled stigmas dropped sharply, suggesting these flies are key to maintaining proper morph reciprocity. (8/10)

Just when you find out about hover flies (flower flies) (Syrphidae family) & get overwhelmed, you'll photograph a BEE FLY, which is not a hover fly - even though you'll want to yell, "It looks like a dang hover fly!!" Maybe a Villa spp - a lovely bee fly (Bombyliidae family)? #Invertebrates
