St James Clapham Yorks
The Fine perpendicular Tower is by far the oldest part of the church and dates from Norman times of the early 14th century.

St. Helen's Church, #Abingdon, viewed from its east frontage onto the street. Gables galore, due to its double N & S aisles - it is said to be the widest church in England. #SteepleSaturday #Berkshire #ChurchCrawling

Well first of all here's both of the doors (might need a click) which as i think you can agree ...😳😳😳

Some incredble c12 work on a church that otherwise was near completely restored in 1882

The tower of the Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, #Oxford. Built circa 1040, it is the oldest standing building in the city, being decades older than the castle tower. I love the characteristic 'long and short' quoins. #MedievalMonday #ChurchCrawling #Oxfordshire

I bought #DxOPureRaw5 so I am going to revisit a lot of old files - here is a detail of the roof of St Mary, Woolpit, Suffolk back in 2006.

I love that you can go into any church in the UK and find wonderful things! Doesn’t need to be a cathedral!

The Abbey Church of St. Mary, #Tewkesbury, formerly a Benedictine Abbey church. The fine crossing tower is 12th century, and one the best surviving examples. It used to have a wooden spire, but it blew down. #TowerTuesday #Gloucestershire #ChurchCrawling

Apparently today is St Kentigern's day
So here is a church named for him, in Caldbeck!
The grave is John Peel of fox and hounds fame, not the DJ!
