After posting one of the most beautiful low-poly games with MegaMan Legends, I thought why not post one of the ugliest, most horrid creations, just to balance it out.

I'm of course talking about Death Crimson, the king of kusogē aka "shit games", a rail shooter with staggeringly low variety and even lower quality standards in any department, but that just adds to its charm.

We see a small, perhaps Mediterranean town with overall three types of small houses (certainly too small for any of the human-like enemies to live in or even enter through the door), now infested by small Lovecraftian frog-like bat creatures and beautiful blonde soldiers with those gorgeous anime boy eyes, wearing either a classic green camo soldier's uniform or just a jumbled mess of pixels, I'm not sure.

If you zoom in closely to one of he gray houses you'll see they all have the sign "MINORX" over their front doors, probably and rightfully signifying that you should keep this game as far away from kids as possible.

A dark blood red sky looming over an old castle with a big fountain in front of it with a pillar with an old family crest and the word "Ecole" written under it (the name of the game dev company).

We see a group of four medieval knights with short green skirts standing guard and waiting to be shot by your weird blue and yellow rectangle sights thing.

We can also see a few grub-like floating penis creatures with sharp scythes on their backs, probably an on the nose symbolization of "la petite mort".

An even more baffling thing is what appears to be a flying squirrel, showing its belly and long tail and just floating there, looking all cheerful.

We shift our adventure to a tropical jungle with lots of palm trees adorning the green river bank, with some additional ruins and three floating tribesmen just hovering fixated in the air in a squatting position, wearing dark purple triangular outfits, all Sub-Zero like, with golden necklaces and masts that are half black-and-red and half-white-and-black.

Now I'll be honest, after playing through most of this game in the Yaba Sanshiro 2 emulator the game froze and got all garbled so I thought I'd see the rest of it on a YouTube longplay, and then I realized some of the graphics in these screenshots might not be fully 100% accurate (though this one seems fine) but I promise if you didn't know about it, you wouldn't notice because it's all just so grubby and nasty looking.

One of the main bosses, a green broccoli dragon with awesome blue shorts with red and yellow flames drawn on them.
He's surrounded by his friends, flying toad bats, an orb with teeth and an eye in its mouth and like the stardrive section of a Star Trek Constitution class ship without the saucer section, I don't know how else to describe it.

I think DC2 does a lot of things that are kind of a prototypical variant of modern game features (the item upgrade system, photo collection → town unlocks → building management loop) but it benefits so much from having linear progression + its own distinct stylistic direction

An orange Honda Integra type R DC2 in orange with a JDM front end and a mugen hood, dark grey alloys in front of a yellow Cayman, 318ti and 992 GT3 cup cars at Serres Racing Circuit.

The red Recaros in the car, fun fact, they had them in red to reference the 60s Honda F1 car that was in Championship White and a red seat!

A closeup of the wheels on this car, actually not my favorite but the 5 lugs were unique to the ITR!

Dreamcast running on WindowsCE and Xbox getting all of the games that would have been on a DC2 always made them feel like not so distant cousins.

Yup,DC2 has so much cool stuff going on, even the way it split up its movement modes (auto aim=stationary, manual aim=run n gun), the hitstun & randomly spawning dinos, alls orts of cool shit.Will never be touched again, just tossed into the dumpster in favor of red glowing attacks & witch dodges
