...20+ shows in to the 1968-79 material. That way they're invested.

But when doing a fully blind intro I actually go live albums first: E72, Live Dead, Reckoning, 1FTV, WAN in that order.

If they like any of em they know what era/style to dig into. If they like em all they're a deadhead.

My uncle (the cool uncle) gave my Europe 72 when I was a Freshman in High School.
I liked them alone for about a year until finding a friend in High School who was a deadhead… and took me to my first Phish show a few years later actually.

Ok. I’m an old deadhead, went to get ice cream wearing my dancing bears hat. The twenty-something scooper/server said, “nice hat” pulled up her left sleeve to show her inside forearm ink, 1/4” block letters EYES OF THE WORLD. “That’s great!” I said, thinking Yes, we are. She smiled.
Weir everywhere!

Huh.... not looking in Texas... 🤔

Claudia is a bootliking putz.

Nick Shirley's admitted drug use explains a lot.

And Claudia listening to a deadhead... says a lot about her.
Rep. Claudia Tenney on Minnesota: "That's the whole point of all these protests -- continuing to gin them up to distract everyone from the tremendous fraud, abuse, and waste that we've seen in Minnesota uncovered by Nick Shirley."

Thanx so much for what you do, Mr. Klippenstein

Network News has been a Joke for decades (I miss Walter Cronkite - and he was a Deadhead)... but now we have Psychotic Billionaire-owned CBS (See BS) run by a vapid MAGAt-Lite buffoon.
It was only occasionally fair back when I was in SDS in the 1960s

My dad is a big Deadhead so some show or another was usually playing in the car or over dinner. I dove in fully for myself in late '91 when I got my first CD player and swiped Skeletons (lol) out of a relative's collection & fell in love

@buchanan.today there was a mainframe software vendor I had dealings with that you bear a remarkable resemblance to

He was a deadhead. Wrote a piece of code for mainframes linking machines that every bank & insurance company needed

Only sent invoices when he needed $, didn’t ever ⬆️ price-🙏🏽

I discovered them when Live Dead came out I guess. They went on the hiatus just when I turned 17 ☹️ but I put both feet on the bus in 1977 for the obvious reasons plus going away to school and meeting a whole gaggle of new deadhead friends.

@buchanan.today ganga smoking hippy! My late husband & I fell into the deadhead category

Yet another incredibly impressive Bluesky profile.

If I understand correctly, you live on First Nations territory? If only we’d followed their lead-can you imagine what North America would look like today?

Love hearing about people’s Phish > The Dead journeys. I was opposite. I brought some Phish bootlegs home on Xmas break 1988 & played those for my Deadhead buddies. Several of them rejected anything that wasn’t the Dead. A couple of them “got it” tho & wound up touring & seeing 100s of Phish shows✌️

My story pretty similar to Jen’s. Exposed to GD at camp, but I was a Phish kid with Phish tape means.

Older neighbor Deadhead said here’s 9/27/72 and 3/30/94, hit me with two Phish shows and that was that

I was the opposite. A salesman I worked with was a huge deadhead so I assumed they were some terrible band liked by only terrible people. He even once (in like 1992) offered me a ticket to see the JGB and I turned him down. I've since come to like and respect them but never really got too into them.
How did you discover The Grateful Dead? I’ll Start: My oldest brother who despised them got Skeletons as a gag gift in college ‘79. He left the cassette in a drawer still in the plastic wrapper. I found & opened it. Played it and I have never looked back. Greatest music discovery! I was in 6th grade

Powell showing his loyalty and being a deadhead, and I thought I just liked him because he is smart.

I was in my peak Deadhead era.

Ah! I had a chance to find out why this was familiar to me, not-a-Deadhead. This was on "In the Dark", which I bought for Touch of Grey, though true Deadheads will not speak of this mass-market success. I also like "Hell in a Bucket," a Bob Weir song on this album.
☮️
We will get by.

Well, not quite. I'm being polite, and the cover is a mess, but i do find it charming and enjoyable. Maybe it's the '85 vintage Deadhead in me, but i don't always mind when they play sloppy covers for fun. They established that that was a phish thing in summer of 98 and I'm fine with it usually

Watching the Bobby Weir tribute with wife son and grandson, so fucken cool! So glad to see Speaker Pelosi on stage honoring the great man! Just a beautiful time! Everyone in NORCAL is a deadhead !

Not a deadhead but I can't deny that Bob Weir's 1980s penchant for booty shorts was "on point".

looks line a deadhead sticker

may be / not be a blue line punisher sticker on the truck but it is definitely a cartman driving
January 19, 2026 at 7:07 PM
Ooh. I kind of like the sound of that. I do wish Powell would run. We need a Deadhead in the WH!

Don't know if anybody caught this, but Nahla Ake (Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Holly Hunter) appears to be a deadhead.

There's once scene in her office where you can briefly see the "Aoxomoxoa" and "Skull and Roses" album artwork on her shelves.
