Looking up at Djouce mountain over boggy waterlogged ground. We had a random beautiful day last week which is a rarity for October in Ireland. Walking up here the cloud burned off before I got to the top.

It's a good spot and Lough Dan is right behind me here. It's a nice hike over Kanturk. You can park at the big car park beside Glenmacnass waterfall. This is the opposite end of Lough Dan to where you would end up coming down from the Ballinastoe/Djouce side.

There is a huge fire on the Old Long Hill at the Djouce Car Park, the Fire Brigade are on site, but Gardai are asking people to stay away from the area, as the additional Fire Engines are having problems accessing the fire due to the number of cars blocking the road

Cheers. There's a little elevation there on the way to Djouce Mountain so you get a good view north and south.

This is taken from the northeastern part of the Wicklow Mountains National Park so looking southwest here it's mostly free of development for a good 50km or more.

Uncharacteristically, Djouce was warm enough but the wind on Maulin sliced through us. We usually like to sit up there for a while but I think we lasted less than five minutes today.

We had a cold but beautifully clear morning for a good 20km hike up Djouce and Maulin mountains; plus a detour around Crone Woods. A great time but now my knees hate me.
