#Ferrograph
I first heard Flanders & Swann — as a very small child — on my dad’s Ferrograph reel-to-reel tape recorder. Which, amazingly, I still possess. OK, that machine was antique even at that time but still, I didn’t think I was THAT old 🫤

So young . And there's Licky. Somewhere I have a 4 track tape recording on our old Ferrograph as they put together the Hedgehog song in a leaking stables attic in Dublin Street Lane. 1967/68?. Licky was sewing slippers out of an old pillowcase.

Wish I still had my dad’s ferrograph. Massive beast of a machine but in near-mint condition.

Zero chance. Like all those fucking Sonys in the film of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The British government kept Ferrograph in business, buying hundreds until they couldn’t find anywhere else to stick a Series Seven. I’m guessing Uncle Sam shopped domestically too.

Here's some big Electroscope news and something I never anticipated. All Night Flight have reissued our very first release "When the Oscilloscope Meets the Magic Eye".
Recorded to 4 track / Ferrograph in 1996, clueless but undeterred!

Recorded live using a Ferrograph tape machine and a single mic, once again proving if the players are tight it's all you need, sounds wonderful

Morning Ash, I will. He's dragged out the Ferrograph reel to reel and plans to rebuild (50 yrs+). Think we've got Climax Blues Band on tape alongside other stuff.

This is one of my Dad’s Ferrograph reel to reels, it’s in mint condition as is the other one. Think I’m going to ebay them as I can’t use them.

It's alive!

The #Ferrograph Series Seven. This is a quirky machine. It's been interesting looking into the guts and reading the manual.

I must say, it does help to read the manual on this one 😆

A Philips test card would also be shown from Glasgow (eg) switching centre to also blank the transfer at the same time. That and a Ferrograph run with the music, tone put to line when rewinding the tape.
